BUT £600 MILLION is the COMPENSATION that the Scottish Government NOW has to pay for its Illegal DRS! SO, it is £1 GBP per bottle NOT 20p OR another way is since OVER 50% of Bottles ARE already recycled, Lorna Slater Statement, that is £2 per bottle EXCLUDING COSTS that the DRS will cost. So a Coke will go from 65p TO £2.65 because of Nicola Sturgeon and Lorna Slater. Nicola Sturgeon £100 BILLION "missing" Lorna Slater JUST a mere £600 Million "WASTED", well the GREENS are the MINOR partner?

The UK government removed glass because we have a good glass recycling system. Her figures do not match those released from local councils (no surprise). She states that by using the DRS system, you can recycle bottles into…..bottles. Let that sink in for a second. When I was a kid, milk bottles were returned, sterilised and reused time and time again.

So much in Ms Slaters reply is questionable. Multi handling of the glass bottle, a bottle of wine, for example, will receive the same amount human contact whether it goes to a recycling machine or dropped into a kerbside recycling bin. She also makes reference to it's cleanliness, that is up to the recycler, some wash the bottle out before recycling, some do not, a machine does not distinguish between the clean and the dirty. A school child purchasing a soft drink in a bottle would wish to recover their 20p asap. They will not go to a wash facility and wash the bottle out, that just won't happen, they will just stick it in, residue contents and all, straight into the machine. In my council area we are being asked to place different coloured bottles into different recyclable containers, how will the machine distinguish between clear, green, or brown glass? Finally the 600 million bottles in Scotland she admits it is an estimate, how has she arrived at that figure? It sounds like an idiotic over assessment to me. As Mr Ewing started, that equates to 109 bottles per manwoman and child in Scotland, is that figure a daily, weekly or annual figure. Wow! What a stupid reply to a serious question by Mr Ewing.
