She is indeed a great actress but she isn't really look like them. Claire had to mention Brianna reminds Jamie a lot that she is just looked like Jamie. Sophie definitely had a similar face to Sam and Cait and I think that was important in terms of casting decision as well...

Brianna is so meh...And Roger is the same.Marsali and Fergus have much smaller amount of screen time, yet have so much more character then other two

I think that a surname was only relevant for formal occasions back then. He's lived most of his life with Claire and Jamie, so there wasn't really a need for Fergus to have a surname

He was originally an orphan or didn’t know both his parents when he grew up in France. Jamie met him, and first hired him as a pickpocketer, and then took him in as his de facto adoptive son. So he never officially got a last name before this
