Just a quick and nasty clip on what I do to get the brake drum screws out of a Ferguson Tractor. Sorry about my arm and shoulder in the pic.

Excellent. After heating didn’t work cracking with a chisel worked on one and my late dad’s impact driver did the other.

Common tool in my mc mechanic days, still got a old one at the bottom of the toolbox. They were handy to use but in the wrong hands it ended in a bunch of chowdered casing screws. I recall there were after market socket head replacement kits for small bikes then too.

I first used them as a young bloke on motor bike Philips head screws. We thought we were big time if we bought a kit and fitted Allen Head screws. Good simple tool but like all need to be used correctly.

Lance,You're right on about the impact driver, I still have a couple I have had for well over 40 years. I still drag them out now and then. Thanks for the videos, I really enjoy them.

I would pull the wheel off and then the brake drum and look for a broken spring on linings worn out. Either way you will need to have a look.

Mr Bundy, just taken possession of a '77 Massey Ferguson MF20 (Bit like a 135). The brakes are not very effective. Could you do a tutorial on how to jack, remove the main wheel, check/replace/adjust the brakes please.

g Day Max, I will be coming up to the brakes very soon but the brakes on the tractor I am restoring this time will be different to yours in quite a few ways. The diesel TEF20 would be the same but I will need to finish this one before getting onto the next one.

G Day Bill, Yeah heating and drilling both work but this is a good quick field fix. This doesn't always work though but it seems to be a forgotten tool.

ha! The old impact driver - got mine back when Honda's had those damn phillips heads. Moved on to Ducati and retired the driver. Still have it but. Not the Ducati dammit.

G Day Lance. Found a new use for my impact driver this year haven't I. Use the end as a taper punch to size the rings. Only thing I don't like about them, when the screw doesn't come out, just chews the slot up lol.

They do bugger it up if not used as intended, almost a forgotten tool now a days.

Worst is when they damage a hardened phillips head screw. Resort to welder.

I tried everything you suggested before I even saw your video. I heated them up, used that impact screwdriver and still wouldn't come loose. Had to take the torch and torch them out. But the drum is still locked up on the axle. Letting oil soak on it now. I took apart because I think my brake springs are broke. Locking my wheel up. Good video. I did all them ideas, so I guess I know a little bit. lol.

Try and make sure the brake shoes are backed right off, they sometimes get caught on the lip it the drums are worn.

I did that, thanks for reply though. I finally got it off. Had to heat the crap out of it. Worse problems. I thought the transmission, hydraulics and rear end was like my 2110 Ford. All together. Wrong. Someone told me it was though, who should have known better. Anyways. The rearend was completely out of gear oil. I put two gallons in and let it set over night. I will be lucky if the bearing isn't scorched and ruined. It did go fine though. Ran it around the barn a couple times, and no noise. It locked up before though. Thanks for the reply. Not sure I want to tackle fixing the bearing if that goes. Not really that up on mechanics. But I have done some seals and bearing on my 2110.

I do for sure but there is no need for these to be so tight, just nipped up is plenty. The wheel holds it all on and I have worked on tractors without any.

G Day Dale, I reckon they are ok too, you don't see them around much any more, everyone has air or battery impacts. These are nice and simple.
