Lance you are bringing back memories of me working on my 1954 Standard Vanguard in 1964. Same as the Fergi. I was only 18 years of age but with working with my pop on the engine over many years I learnt a lot. Did that work to the distributor on many occasions. Memories.

Now then Lance - this really is a top video. Everyone with an old style vehicle will need to see it. When you see the complicity of a dizzy, makes you wonder how the bloody engines ran at all on a cold rainy day eh!

Learned all about keeping the water out....had a Mini lol. Used to be able to get a waterproof spray in a can, about the best we found. Must have been a thin wax I suppose.

Ignition feeler gauges are in the same pouch as the ignition wrenches ;-) You know the fancy brass ones! Love the work. Nothing like fiddling with small parts. Dropping each on the floor at least once. Fuel hose is a great idea. You could make the line longer than needed then trim it square with a razor blade after it is installed.

G day Shain, Bloody poor job if I don't drop something, I had the feeler gauges setting the tappets on the 1948 TEA20 so they wont be far away I'm sure .

Thanks for the vid Lance, My Ted 20 had a bit of a slow rev up so I bought the bearing ,it was too thick, mine was a bit narrower so I cleaned mine out with kero & repacked with bearing grease. All good. I dont know why but when I pulled it apart [dist] 1 of the weights was off & there were various washers in the bottom ,im guessing from over the yrs replacing points. Anyway all good now. I might put a carb kit through it soon. Runs well though, all timed. Its a cool old tractor. I told my 4yo grandson he can have it when he can drive it. The way things are going he may get it soon, he loves getting on the kubota & having a drive. Thanks again Lance. Dave

g Day Dave, From memory the weights had a small washer under them to pivot on, that may be another reason for the washers but not certain. My grand kids are all over my tractors too, just good to have them hanging around.

G day John, Good to see you have been feeling well enough to get out and about again. We went away last weekend and got hit with the big storm that came through Bundaberg this week so no video as we had no power for a day or so and some trees in the paddock to clean up. Nothing serious though. I should have time this weekend for a few videos with any luck and I might even get the old TE20 up and running.

G'day Lance. Another great video I see. I remember back in the days of setting points, most of them were very easy but now and then you would get one that moved every time you tightened the screws. I preferred two stroke motorcycles because I could use a degree wheel and a light to see when it was right. With cars it was much more work.

When I fit the distributor I will use a test light to get it close, it would have been easier if I could have found my small feeler gauges but that's what I get for having a messy shop.

Agggh. My starter motor has gone. I need the tractor running in 8 hrs, sheep are coming. Worse still, my father has the TE20 6v starter run by 12V --- the wrong polarity. (He has stuck a ford alternator on in the 1980's and its still working) (So its negative earth) I need a starter motor in 8hrs time

hi Lance,loving the videos,very detailed and informative,just sorting out a tvo fergie at the mo and rebuilt the dizzy,just a thought though can you be 180 degrees out on refitting the rotor\cam into the bob weights? as there is no location on the rotor shaft?

Hi Lance, i followed these video's to the letter and put new bits on the dizzy, i have a spark but i cant get the old girl to fire up - however im getting the occasional impressive backfire - like a shotgun out of the exhaust pipe. i think i should have left it alone, it was running rough, but at least it was running

Backfire means no spark and plenty of fuel then when you get spark again she goes boom. Check all of your connections.

what kind of oil bottle do you use did you make it in the barn or buy it?

Sparex sell them look in workshop tools on a Sparex web site and they are there and cheap. I use them a lot.

I got a problem after changing the contact and condenser, when i measure it like you do in the video everything is correct. But when i hook up the little cable on the side i get zero on the display all over the distributor. what am i doing wrong? Can the coil be a problem?

Possibly, but is the nut from the wire earthing out on the distributor body?
