The 599 is such a huge step design wise from its predecessor. Not that the 550/575 isn‘t a very pretty car, it definitely is. But when the 599 came out it was such a spaceship, at the time it was unimaginable how there could ever be something that will replace it. It felt like the final Ferrari at the time. So modern and yet elegant. It still is.

I dunno, always thought the 599 looked a bit like it had been left too close to a radiator. 😂 And the pretend GTO was just daft. They've aged very well, granted, but at the time, a lot of folk I know would have rather had the 550.

Jayemm is totally correct, when these came out the journos adored them, they were a game changer with performance that still stands up today. Today they are not liked for whatever reason. Then you take the 964 911, absolutely hated for years and could be had for a pittance, journos despised them. Today they are absolutely silly money and everyone loves them. Fickle World. 599 is a super car bargain right now and so underrated

I owned a 2008 599 GTB for 4 years and put over 14,000 miles on it and it was bullet proof. I was a joy to own and enjoy. Purchased from a Ferrari Dealer with a 2 year warranty and never used it. In my opinion for the money it's one of the best GT cars one could ever hope to own... I also sold it for the same money I bought it for even after adding the milage...Great experience!

It baffles me that the 599 has become a 'forgotten' car when not so long ago it utter decimated every car that challenged it. The 599 was THE benchmark for the super GTs. The main thing is to keep a stiff upper lip as the person at the desk reads you the repair bill, after all you are loaded with cash aren't you. I don't see these cars as things you have to scrabble- around-behind-the-sofa in order to afford whatever variant and revision. The worst thing is they are generally riddled with build quality related issues.

The problem with the 599 and 612 that the F12 and FF are far better... same with F430 vs 458
@jean-michelmarle5689Ай бұрын
Far better in cost ?.. Far more sanitized, IT driven, computerized, etc Where 599 is the very last analogic with F430, direct to the road, authentic, in short a V12 Ferrari breathing the soul of a Ferrari. Last but not least, the last from Pininfarina Design (Jason Castriota & team), assembled by Scaglietti. Yes F12 and FF belong to another world, post-modern creations, of computer assisted performance, IT screens, gameboy soul... To sum up, 599 is designed to be timeless awesome, F12 and FF are designed by a wind tunnel

You thought this was fast? Yes it is ... but if you get your hands on the 599 GTO in the future, that's Apollo 11 on wheels. Goes like a moon rocket, and has similar fuel consumption. But if you can take it to a track as part of your test, the words "evil fun" will pop into your brain quickly. But on the road, it's one of those cars you buy to teach yourself restraint. Its performance envelope will exceed yours unless you've inherited a lot of genes from a certain Mr A. Senna. The HGTE is probably as far as you'll want to go if you ever buy one yourself. Aside from the eye watering purchase price of the GTO, it's capable of aging you 20 years in as many minutes with its performance. The GTO is a Krakatoa volcano of a car.
@EmmaLouise10522 күн бұрын
Can anyone explain why the 599 is a "bit scary" with its handling please? And- does the HGTE package make for a less scary car? Because prior to buying my first Ferrari (a california), I saw one of these and thought "wow"! Should I, or shouldn't I?! Yep, I chickened out! But would still love a big V12 sooooo, what would I go for?

I may be in the minority but I really like how the 599 looks! I never thought it looked ugly and in fact, as car designs all over the place get more and more weird, the simple, curvy and quite original design of the 599 looks even better. I'm also fond of it because one of the very first 1:24 scale models my parents bought me when I was a kid circa 2007/2008-ish was a Rosso Fiorano 599 GTB model kit from Maisto, which I still have and love. And as pointed out in the video, yes the 599 doesn't look that pretty in Rosso Corsa, but I think it looks sensational in Rosso Fiorano! This car was just made for dark shades!
