While working for a pool company in 1989 in Ft. Lauderdale, the truck broke down in front of a Ferrari dealership. I went inside to call the office. While waiting for a replacement truck to continue my day, I was admiring a brand new F40. Salesman came over and opened the door and asked if I'd like to sit in it. What an experience that was, I was 18. I didn't know what an iconic car it would one day become. I remember that experience like it was last week.

How can you not be a ferrari fan ? 🤔 ferrari is like big daddy in supercars for so long compared to most other supercar companies. These cars are dreams of most people from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and even 00s. Lambo was after ferrari, too. Especially in the world outside the US, ferarri was basically the only good supercars company known for so long imo. Porsche wasn't even as popular as ferrari back in the days. Ferrari also dominated the F1 scene for a long time.

I disagree with never see that again, the body styles maybe, but if you are talking about power etc.. Many cars today are more effecient and have more power than the 'supercars' of the 80's. Many luxury SUV's have more horsepower than this Ferrari did, it had 471hp, which is measly when you take into account there Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has a 707hp hellcat engine. And the new C8 Corvette has 1176hp.
@macinema0014 ай бұрын
@@greatunz67 They have more power, yes..better tech, yes...but these new cars are largely hot garbage...looking less & less like their namesake, as they blow up in price, size & weight. Innovation has nearly ceased for the average car market, being the LAST recent GOOD idea was lane assists & infrared sensors for blind people. We will NEVER see another golden era like we had with the 80's & 90's, where, lightweight, aerodynamic design & reliable performance met tunability at an affordable price. These new cars make power for a few years, then grenade, catch fire, fall apart, are HIGHLY fragile, and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars..only to get about 100k miles or so, before they're toast. A C4 ZR1 will run you 40 grand tops, and comes with 415+ stock. With fresh internals, sleeves, better fueling, a blower and T56 trans, you can crank over 800 wheel reliably, and for less money.

The reason for the simple rod is because this car was built with performance being the main focus, this was the lightest possible solution for holding the rear section open. Keep in mind that there is no radio, the inside door handles are made of rope and the paint is so thin you are still able to see the carbon fiber weave under it. So having something to prop open the rear instead of removing it and setting aside could be considered a luxury.

Besides my C4 ZR-1, a Ferrari F40 is one of the cars I want to own. Very nice 👍

Guy in work had one back in 2000, I honestly thought it looked a little tacky at the time, like a plastic car, but I do appreciate it a lot more now! Few of the guys had 355's, lotus esprit V8, they all said this thing was mental :)

Bet it’s a thrill to drive. I’m going to ask if I can the next time I see the owner roll up to C&C at Katie’s.

I wanna see one of these decked out with modern Ferrari parts and tech. Like a one off max-out build to a classic design. Modern Ferrari v12, gated manual transmission mission, the newest suspension designs they got, carbon fiber body work with integrated active aero. Too bad Ferrari crucifies anyone who dare customize their cars 😂

Probably the best automotive piece of engineering ever made the only problem with this video is you got like the BOOGALOO inspiration of Peter Griffin opening up the bonnet/hood

👌🥰👍that was my dream car back in the 80s! Of course I couldn’t never afford one! But I still have the posters and many models of that beauty!

I was lucky to see an F40 driving on i95 many years ago. I was on my 300ZX Twin Turbo, and had my digital camera with me (smart phones were not out yet), so I took some pictures of it. There was a passenger inside with a video camera (rather large) so I think they were making a documental. They saw me and we all waved. It was very cool. But no racing, I would have lost, and they were not interested obviously. Funny thing is that none of my friends believed it when I told them... and then I pulled out the camera and showed them the pictures, including one I took of the rear view mirror and you can see my face partially as well as the inside of my 300ZX so no doubt the picture was real. you should have seen their faces when they saw the pictures LOL

El Ferrari F40 de mi infancia cuando era pequeño y sigue siendo el coche de mis sueños, afortunadamente aun queda en circulacion modelos de los cuales podemos seguir observando y disfrutando de autenticas obras de arte en la carretera.

The F41 had an electric release latch on the key remote and after a few years, the F43 was equipped with gas charged struts.
