Ferraris 365 GT 2 + 2 - The queen mother

Introduced at the Paris Auto Show in October 1967 as Ferrari's latest four-seat touring model, the 365 GT 2+2's styling was an evolution of the elegant and ultra-exclusive 500 Superfast's body lines. Ferrari's all-new 2+2 offered unprecedented standard features for a Ferrari road car including power steering, air conditioning, a new torque tube plus a four-wheel independent suspension with a proprietary self leveling rear suspension system developed with Koni, all combined to make the ride smoother, more comfortable and more sure-footed. As Ferrari's last model to feature a single overhead cam version of the long-running Colombo 4,390 CC SOHC V-12 engine, the 365 GT 2+2 was rated at 320 BHP at 6,600 RPM and backed up by a smooth and easy shifting 5-speed gearbox. The 365 GT 2+2 was built for the sporting enthusiast who wanted to take flexible friends or small children along for the ride and today gives the quintessential 1960s vintage Ferrari experience. The 365 GT 2+2 is prized for its elegant lines, sumptuous interior, more than adequate performance, impressive engineering lineage and luxurious yet sporting characteristics that are roomy for two adults and two small children, combined with a spacious trunk that will hold enough luggage to make any wife happy, allowing for smooth yet fast long distance traveler.

@@larrykippings I’ve done a bit of research as your tone was so abrupt. The first references to it being called Queen are from Road and Track where it was described as the Queen Mother of Ferraris. If you look on the Ferrari chat sites, you will see that the experts generally agree that it was first called the Queen Mother, and that this later morphed into Queen Mary…but noone can seem to work out what that exact name referred to. So we’re both right/wrong.

It was the first Ferrari I got a ride in. I was in my early teens and we were at a Jaguar club meeting. For some reason, someone brought this Ferrari and my brother and I got offered a ride in it. I remember being underwhelmed, as I thought our own 67 Daimler Sovereign had a far superior interior and ride than this Ferrari. As a grown up, I'd have experienced and appreciated the ride differently, being aware of its rarity and value, but I wasn't wrong as a kid.
