Fertilization Results After ICSI | Low AMH IVF

Hi Everyone!
After getting 13 eggs from our egg retrieval we find out how many mature eggs we got and how many fertilized. I can't believe the first step of our IVF process done! Now we wait till I start my cycle and start to prepare for our Frozen Embryo Transfer.
My protocol from my doctor was to fertilize our eggs with ISCI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection). That's when they inject 1 sperm into each mature egg to hopefully increase the fertilization percentage. Usually this is done when there are problems with the sperm (which we do not have), but in our case it's when someone has low AMH and diminish ovarian reserve (DOR). .Since we were liking to have a small amount of mature eggs it just gives us more chance of them fertilizing.

I just had my egg retrieval on Wednesday and we got 19 eggs but we only had 9 mature and 5 fertilize! Very similar numbers. We plan on doing a FET hopefully next month. Sending all the baby dust to you!!! I'm also starting to post videos about my journey on my channel too.

Hi Bonnie just wondering if your doctor suggested a PGT-A (genetic testing) on your embryo? Did your embryo reach day 5 before they freeze it?Thanks a lot

We had a better result with normal ivf , If male factor is not a problem you can always give it a try . icsi didn't work for us . Also if they embryo doesn't grow to day 5 the chance of success is much lower . Most clinics these days do day 5 transfer as it's more likely to achieve a viable pregnancy . I only had 4 eggs collected with mild ivf and 3 are fertilized with icsi. Only hoping the best for fresh embryo transfer on Saturday. Have you conceived?

It’s so courageous and awesome of you to have put together this series of y’all’s IVF journey! We just had our first retrieval on Sunday with 9 eggs retrieved, 7 mature, but all 9 were injected using ICSI. We found out yesterday that 8 successfully fertilized. We’re anxiously optimistic, but waiting until Friday to see how many of those little ones make it to Day 5/6/7 🙏🏼

Sure! They did what is called a Luteal Lupron protocol so they started me with 10 units of Lupron injection everyone morning 1 week after I had an ovulation surge on the cycle before. That was on 12/27/19. Then on 1/7/19 I started the stim meds. They lowered the Lupron to 5 units, then added 20 units of low dose HCG and then 325 IU of Gonal-F. After my first blood test on 1/10 my estrogen was a little low so they upped my Gonal-F to 350. I then stayed at that level and was ready to do the trigger shot (Pregnyl) on 1/17 then had retrieval 36 hours later.

So are eggs not used then frozen again?

Yes, that is my understanding. Any embryos that make it to blast besides the one we transfer would be frozen again for later transfers.
