If you plan on plugging the countersunk holes, then consider whether you want to use metric or imperial wood (or other material) plugs. If you are OK with turning your own plugs to fit, then either works otherwise if you are planning on using some "store bought" plug material (wood, metal, or plastic) then the availability of those materials comes into play. Overall, good video. Thanks for producing.

Thanks for the compliment and taking the time to check out the video. I bought the Veritas dowel maker to take a crack at making my own dowels. We will have to see how that works out.

Thanks for the comparison. I have a couple of those amana countersinks and they're great, just a bit bulky. They work great though. Worth noting that the countersink is carbide tipped, I'm not sure about the festool. As much of a festool fan as I am, these would be a hard pass at those prices unless centrotec is an absolute necessity. Even $42 for the amana was a bit rough to break out the debit card, but they're worth it. I think amana makes them without the depth stops for a decent bit less too, for situations where consistent depth isn't critical. Do you prefer one over the other? Have a great Sunday!

Thanks NW, You have a great Sunday as well. I like the Centrotec system or more specifically the ability to put multiple head adapters on Festool drills. The off-set, right angle, and depth stop chucks come in handy. It is a more versatile system. Other brands provide this type of drill functionality but not in their higher voltage line of drills. I could be wrong, but I do not think Festool will make a dedicated chuck with a 1/4-inch quick change chuck due to the investment in their proprietary Centrotec system. I am going to speak about it more in an upcoming video,

@@daddysharespace Yeah I had the milwaukee M12 multi head driver and currently use the dewalt. So far, it's done everything I need of it, but an 18v/20v max version would be great to have in the lineup. I know there was a milwaukee patent for an M18 version but I haven't seen anything come of that. I think I mentioned this previously, but the new CXS 12 and CXS 18 have my interest. I'm waiting a bit on those though since my dewalt has been performing so well. Still savin up for my CNC. Looking forward to your video on the centrotec system.

Amana also makes these with a centrotec shank. Different stop collar and not metal. Also smaller in diameter.

Thanks for sharing that information. The Amana countersinks I own have worked well so far. I imagine the quality is similar so that could be a nice buy. Thanks for checking out the video.

The Amana tool features the ability to switch between bit sizes. Does the festool? Or do you have to buy every single size with it’s included depth stop. This is an important favor which has massive implications in regard to price.
@daddysharespace Жыл бұрын
Sorry, it took me so long to answer. I wanted to check the bits before I responded. You will have to purchase the various sizes. Upon further inspection, the Amana bits I have also require you to buy each size. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching the video.
@gcanzano36 Жыл бұрын
@@daddysharespace right, but the different bit sizes on the amana can all fit into the depth stop collar. Once you’ve purchased the festool set and collar, you can swap between different sized festool bits, right?

You spoke about price being higher compared to other bits, but not on whether or not Festool’s price vs the comparable Amana Tool’s price, is justified or not. Would you say one is better than the other? Great video
@daddysharespace11 ай бұрын
Since I put up that video I have learned that Amana also makes a Centrotec version of the counter sink. When I completed the video I was comparing the 1/4 option versus the Centrotec version. I have not picked up the Amana Centrotec version to compare so it would not be an apples to apples comparison. I also learned of the Centrotec to 1/4 inch adapter after this video as well. If the Amana Centrotec version is comparable to the Festool then it is best to save the money as they complete the same task. Having to purchase the Centrotec to 1/4 inch adapter in addition to the 1/4 inch Amana option moves the price closer to the Festool. At that point you may as well go with the Festool as it will have smaller foot print by comparison to the Amana plus the Centrotec adapter. One thing to consider the Amana has a metal guide where Festool's is plastic. That can be a con for durability but a plus when it comes to potential marring of delicate surfaces. I do not see value in purchasing the higher priced product unless you like to stay committed to a certain brand.

All festool items are overpriced, period. Better tools out there less expensive with same quality. Shop around people.
