Interesting list, but I was also expecting to see 2024 games that are playable now like Animal Well, which is a must play or unique titles like The Plucky Squire. Also, you should have included Hollow Knight: Silksong, because we're all still hoping.

Yeah. I loved the first game, played it directly after I re-played Witcher 3. Such a fun experience, and the "Geralt narrating folklore to Ciri" was totally canon in my head :D

Give Mirthwood a go altough... Game has some issues for sure. At least for me some mechanics seem... Undercooked. There are some bugs and other things like that too. But if you are looking for a nice relaxing game it may be for you 😊 Just do not expect too much from it...

⁠​⁠@@AlafinGaming it’s a bit rough around the edges, I’d agree. But at the same time, it has huge potential. I love the graphical style and premise of the game. Exploring was fun & interesting, but the combat was a bit wonky for me, for lack of a better word. Forgivable maybe, but for whatever reason I haven’t played much more than a couple of hours’ worth so far. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Mirthwood demo was pretty good and I'm excited for the full release. Reanimal and Replaced look interesting - thanks for bringing them to my attention! And of course Slay the Spire 2 is one of my most anticipated games of next year, here's to hundreds more hours spent on climbing the Spire!

Mirthwood was a disappointment for me. Crafting your character background has zero impact on the actual character you play as. Choose a noble, you’re still living in a shack when you start with your peasant parents. Every time you play a new character your still stuck on the rails of the same beginning, being Mine cart led into the same exhausting situation, go on a boat, meet a guy who gives you a home, play carbon copy star dew valley. Massive disappointment.

I had high hopes for Mirthwood. But for all of its promises, it delivers very little. Here's hoping the devs get more people in their team to expand many aspects of the game. For now, it's pretty underwhelming, sadly.

Why are most of those games so freaking ugly? This is about art direction, not about graphics. it is like they do not even try to compete, they are their own thing, and it's ugly as fu..come on, great cinematic and the gameplay is that shite?! I get they are indie, but indie music and cinema can be great, why cannot games? It is an art product no matter how many people reject it, it should not be ugly, the "charm" has been lost for years now..

Gameplay + Fun > 4k graphics. The whole point of indie games are to showcase original projects by smaller teams. These indie studios allocate their underpaid man-hours to gameplay rather than graphics. There are some exceptions, but this is the general scheme of things. Look at Reanimal from this collection for an example of drop-dead gorgeous visuals.
