Use ATB per character. When you have used enough ATB for characters with synergy abilities, it will let you know by glowing (similar to limit breaks). Then use the synergy skill whenever during the battle.

When there are only two party members in battle, you could press either x or o to use their skill. If the third character is in battle, then that x button is used for the third character.

Its because the sequel is called "X-2" and saying "final fantasy ten two" was dumb. So people have just called it "Ex two" and the original "X" as a shorthand. Hell alot of people shorten it to "Eff Eff Ex" lol.

Keep using abilities on both characters. after three - four abilities used synergy skill command will start glowing. Go there and use a skill for team up attack.
