Fun fact: the type of sword he carries is called a “nodachi” which is basically a very long, single-strike battlefield katana. This weapon was used often as an anti-cavalry weapon, meant for cutting down horses on the battlefield. The sword is so long, the weilder often had a second person behind them carrying the sword for them and helping them unsheath it. So the idea that the sword isn’t actually worn on the person isn’t totally historically inaccurate.

I mean.... after Dissida, I pretty much figured this is how it happened. Ever since Kingdom Hearts, feels like a lot of FF characters, if he sword isn't sheathed, have the ability to summon their weapons from Hammerspace now.
