FFXIV 5.3 Trailer Reaction & Analysis

Their trailer game just gets better and better, and Sokens music is fantastic, can't wait to hear what other new themes there is. The 11th feels like an absolute age away...though as much as I'm looking forward to the MSQ the eventual relic questline is what I am most excited for as content to playthrough. Also, ladder climbing!! I've wanted it forever! As an aside love the use of the animated avatar, the ear wiggles are great.

Yup that's pretty much Sapphire Weapon. It has a pretty weird look to it. Really curious as to how that fight is going to go. Cause if I'm remembering correctly you don't actually fight it in Final Fantasy 7. You just see it do some things. So this fight should be interesting, if there is an actual real fight.

Yeah! I think there will definitely be a fight! In the actual scene where they are fighting it kind of looks like it's player based movement, not as smooth as a cs would be. IMO, they have really been stepping up their game in that area, I loved the Cid instance.

So, that goat-demon thing with the elements swirling around it appears to be Adramellech, which appears in the Ivalice games as a boss in Tactics and an Esper in 12

OH COOL! I'm about to start 12 so I'll get to see him! Seriously, I need to go back and play them all so I get all of these references! He looks awesome. I wish elements had more impact in this game though - that would make this boss very formidable being able to wield them all!

@@EverydayEorzean Fun fact, the Ascian ethereal masks they have coincide (to some part) with the glyphs matching some of the Ivalician Espers. Elidibus's is certainly interesting =P

In the classic final fantasy 7 universe, there was 7 “Weapons”. there was one you fought in the prequel (crisis core), one you fought in the sequel (virge de Cerberus) and 5 in the main game FF7. BUT in the main game you only fight 3 (Ruby, Emerald & Ultimate). The other two (Sapphire & Diamond) are defeated in a cutscene, not from the main heroes. So theoretically, going off FF7. we fought ruby, sapphire is the one in the trailer which we’ll fight and then the final two boss trials we fight would be emerald and diamond,. since ultimate weapon has been in the game since ARR,Ultima weapon(basically same boss)

Hrm, that's not Eulmore looking at Amaurot, pretty sure you're on a Eulmorian airship, probably the same airship that we saw get attacked by the Warrior of Light Dragoon earlier. Now, if that's the case, how did an airship get there since you need to swim there.

I find it interesting that you would use the suspension of disbelief statement when it comes to the Nier crossover. With the way I heard your opinion on it, it more feels like you're critically questioning production choices than you are suspending disbelief on any kind of lore or story implication. Given that we have two more raids to go before it's crossover story concludes, those answers of how Nier exists in 14 may very well exist still. Let alone the idea that not all stories are meant to be explored to the point of origin if it doesn't want to come out of its shell. I can understand if something futuristic yet modern doesn't really fit in the world that's rooted in fantasy, but also the door swings both ways when it comes to acknowledging if you hate production choices or the content itself didn't connect on a personal level. It just strikes me as interesting that that would say you're suspending disbelief despite being critical on its meshy nature. Almost like production versus immersion commentary.

Suspend disbelief may have been a poor phrase to use. It's their story, so really whatever they say goes as far as what is 'real' in the realm of FFXIV. I think trying to add a sci-fi, futuristic, apocalyptic setting to a world of magic and high fantasy would be difficult for any dev team, and you're right, they still have tons of ways to explain it in the upcoming raid(s) that we aren't privy to yet. For me, personally, the story in its current state is missing that believable introduction, so perhaps it is more about the execution of it. While I don't need its exact origin, I do hope they flush it out a bit more. I still have shower thoughts on where Omega and Midgardsormr came from! Clearly, there are far more advanced civilizations in our universe (technologically speaking). I think what doesn't sit well with me, isn't the fact that such an advanced civilization exists, but that it could exist on the first in the current era without people knowing. The building and structures exist in the open (open sky) and yet no one knew about them. I would think in a world with shrinking livable areas, capable of flight, someone would have done a fly-by whether it be on the side of Eulmore or the Crystarium. For that matter, it doesn't seem like Emet or Elidibus knew about them either, as they never mention them and don't use them as a resource. Again, this for me, seems unbelievable, which is what led me to use the phrase 'suspend disbelief'. Do I love the raid? Absolutely! Do I like having it in my game, 100%! I just wish it didn't feel so removed from the rest of the world, while simultaneously existing in it.

Sadly I didn't play the game (Neir), but my partner Scobill did so I'm consulting him!! He says the space station orbiting "earth" is the bunker, but he says that may be the crashed bunker on the planet.

Fun vid. But yeah, when you play the older FF you'll be saying "Oh! I saw that in 14!" a lot. XD Especially FF3 where the Crystal tower stuff inspired so many things in 14.

@@EverydayEorzean nah, you can do them in any order you want. None are connected except for some Easter eggs. ff12 Great game. A lot of devs who worked on it work on ff14 too. So yeah, ff12 also had LOTS of influences on 14.
