I loved every second of the journey with Alphinaud, Estinien, and Ysayle. It was so much like a traditional Final Fantasy adventure, traveling dangerous wildernesses with your team of four

I did too, didn't know it at the time but I got nostalgic the moment Alphinaud mentioned it. What a journey, almost feels like they were simpler times compared to the shitstorm that came after. Camping by the fire with Ysayle, Estinien, Alphinaud and Moghan was awesome

This is the first time you really enter "enemy territory" in 14 and leave the familiarity of the city states. The nostalgic, melancholy of this song knocks any expectation of the scary land of malevolent dragons right out of your head.

Just revisiting older zones to see if my ReShade adapts well enough... Or so I thought. When I got to the Forelands I was staggered by the atmosphere and the music. I remembered how it was my favorite place in Eorzea.

Same! This could be the best FF song I’ve heard since the FFVII overture. This would work really well in single player main series as well. The tale and journey with them three finally totally sold FFXIV to me. First time played this part in 2021 July! I’ve been hooked ever since. Absolutely fantastic music and writing, gameplay is super fun in dungeons and raids.

Can safely say that the journey you take with Ysayle, Alphinaud and Estinien here was fucking incredible, It felt like a different game, the pacing was amazing, you never knew what was going to happen in the story, the huge trek into the clouds the music, the characters and their banter back and forth... I've never seen anything like it in an MMO

I just got to Heavensward recently...and considering all the cutscenes my WoL went through, this theme embodies all of that. It's like my little potato had his naive adventuring spirit sobered. Out alone in this dragon filled field, he's approaching his travels with a purpose even bigger than himself and ARR.

This song saved my FFXIV experience, which is only one of many reasons it’s my favorite in the whole game. I was speeding through the game bc I bough the complete version of it, all the way to ShB. ARR really drained the excitement out of me pre-new patch that lets you finish ARR twice as fast. Big fetch quest simulator, so I quit the game and fell behind my group of friends. I didn’t play it for a year and when I got back I sped through everything without remorse and skipped every cutscene in ARR and i was gonna do the same with HW but then I heard this... and finally took a breather in the middle of the field. This song made me realize that I should just enjoy the game at my own pace and do the things I wanna do while on my way to the level my friends are at, so now I do all the things I like doing in these types of games and while I wait for Duty’s I do MSQ and actually appreciate the story like I should’ve been doing, atleast as far as Heavensward is concerned. This song is what made me realize that, if I would’ve powered through without giving a shit I would’ve missed out on this masterpiece. I’m currently on a grind to craft it so I can add it to my Orchestration Log, god this song is amazing.

Glad you found a way to enjoy the game on your terms! There's SO much beauty to be found here and it's wonderful you get to experience it. Totally understand about the ARR slog though. While I'm glad they fixed some of it with the 5.3 patch, it still seems like they could do better. Hope you enjoy the wild ride to come!

When I first tried FFXIV halfway through the Battle for Azeroth expansion of World of Warcraft, I absolutely hated it. I played the free trial for half an hour a night for a week. Hated the graphics. Hated that I was only 18 and all I had was a rock spell and an "Aero" DoT. Hated the GCD. I thought, how am I going to get to the level cap at this rate and do all the cool stuff that's gated at the end of the game? I quit and went back to WoW but then eventually quit WoW several months later. I was done with MMOs and was forever boycotting Blizzard. After watching the Fanfest 2021, I decided to give FFXIV another try. Rolled a Gladiator this time around. Decided that I was just going to take my time, to get the most out of my free trial. Read every quest dialog. Watched every cinematic that I was shown. Gradually, I was forming a bond with the game without even realizing it. When I experienced the lengthy cinematic that was The Parting Glass, I was completely stunned. I was shocked. How could the story have taken my friends away from me like this? All I had left was Alphinaud and Tataru as we escaped into the cold embrace of Ishgard. Right then and there, I knew that I loved Final Fantasy XIV. I bought all of the expansions and subbed. Now, I'm a L90 omnicrafter. Slowly working my way to a full omni 90. Well, I was until I started speedrunning the Island Sanctuary. LOL

This song really gave me the feel of an ancient land of dragons virtually untouched by man for a thousand years... I think this is actually my favorite overworld theme in the whole game now. It never gets old, it fluctuates so much. And then when you actually manage to hear 3:56... God DAYUMN.

Over the years this particular zone music has really grown on me. Especially the more hectic part can just get stuck in my head for ages. Whereas the beginning melody perfectly encapsulates the feeling that I am beckoned on yet another adventure. Eorzea overall is still filled with mysteries that could all deserve to be action packed and lore filled side content for many many years. I wish they will revisit mysteries especially related to Dravania and Avalonia in the future.

I closed my second playthrough of FF16 to come back to 14 for a but and set my island sanctuary craft schedule, and came here because a S rank hunt was called... And I don't know what FF16 did to my ears, but after multiple playthroughs of the FF14 story, it was like I had just truly discovered this music for the first time. How did overlook this? I prefer on because the battle music fits the theme of the story Heavensword's battle music, in particular, beautifully expresses the struggle in a difficult situation.
