Fiat 500 Abarth gets a Bigger turbo, Garrett GTX2860r Gen II Breakdowns and Requirements

Hey guys & gals it’s been a minute. So big update on the Abarth. It’s getting a turbo from Garrett, a gtx 2860r Gen II. Specs on the turbo are found here: www.garrettmotion.com/racing-...
Working with this setup has been interesting, since I’ve had the k04 before it wasn’t as much work as not having upgrades. If no upgrades have been done to the car this would have been much more work. Will be making a sound clip video from cold start and driving. Car just sounds MEAN!

Custom tune along with other parts and electronics loaded separately on the car.

Hi great mod. Apart from the front mounted intercooler and turbo upgrade... Did you have to do anything to the engine internals? . Can you list/advise what mods are required over and above the Turbo and intercooler? Thx

Mtd camshaft, pistons and rods can be done. However methanol helps a ton when it comes to keeping everything internally cool. It was boosting at 24psi with zero issues.

Was wondering how the turbo outlet to intercooler clears the water oulet pipe to radiator

Hey, mine went in between the radiator and frame. It cleared with 2.25 & 2.5in piping.

what coolant line did you end up running on the back? i am putting the same turbo on my car

It was a custom made line, I bought the kit from Amazon using a universal kit. It was then welded to the the factory line. This helped keep the connection from the oil housing / coolant housing.
