Fiat 500 Classic - Part 7 - Front spindles restoration

Rebuilt the spindles for the little Fiat. They were modified to use larger bushings, so I took them to a machine shop to fit new steel bushings that can house the original brass ones. The parts were sandblasted and painted.

How did you get the kingpin out of this assembly?

There's a safety pin installed in the knuckle, you can see me hammer it in at the end. You need to remove that and then hammer the king pin out.

@@AircooledProject I got that safety pin out but the kingpin must really be stuck. I may need a sledgehammer to dislodge it, lol. Could it be that hard to drive out, in your opinion?

I don't have much experience with this. I only rebuilt this set, and the pin was pretty easy to get out. I guess if the car sat for a long time and there's lots of rust, it could get stuck. Try heating the outside of the knuckle.
