Very cool solution! Thanks! Should the dowel pin be lubed internally by high temp ceramic grease just to extend the time when it would be worn out again?

Yes! Surely it should help and reduce friction. The dowel pin is hard but the wastegate rod end is mild steel. The grease would do the job!
