Lots of people will dis fiberglass as the wrong way to do things, but if it works, it's not wrong. Fiberglass is extremely strong and will seal every hole in the floor. It is also a LOT easier and faster than trying to weld in proper panels. Probably a lot cheaper too. Go for it. Heck, there are entire bodies made out of fiberglass. Boats as well and we trust our lives to it. How bad can it be? Have fun. That's all that matters in the end. I plan on "fixing" the floors in my "66 that way.

I have done this on several vehicles you can't get metal for. Cleaning the steel is important but, killing the rust is too. Use a rust convertor then brush on a layer mixed resin. Let it dry, come back the next day sand with 36 grit and brush on more resin BUT...Use a layer of mat and literally pour risen over it then get the air bubbles out and repeat the process. Depending on which mat [I prefer the variegated style not woven] I do 2-3 layers then sand smooth and apply up to 3 gallons of undercoating. Get underneath finish it too then more undercoating. The cab will be dead quiet.

Hey doesn't the kid have some old scrap metal pieces laying around that's all it takes that and a rubber mallet and you can pretty well tune it wherever you want and then just screw it into the floor and go down the road

It's sometimes a necessary evil. It was necessary in WWII to stop Hitler. But, what does that have to do with a '57 Chevy and LS Fest?
@johnogan23862 ай бұрын
And it's funny how it took you 9 months to decide to work on it just before a festival seems like you'd have done work on a 9 months ago and slowly worked on it and had it all done by now

Why do you Americans never use the shields on your angle grinders? here in Europe with free healthcare we always have them on ;)
@SallysSpeedShop2 ай бұрын
@@tokslut I’ve used angle grinders for years and I think once you reach a certain level of skill with them the guard on the angle grinder actually makes them more dangerous to use because you can’t always get them in the position you need. Not sure that applies to my dad though haha

@@SallysSpeedShop I'm not sure there is an angle grinder injury or death epidemic in the States just yet either LOL. There may be more injuries from hammers.
