I took the liner out of my pool and fiberglassed it. You don't want polyester resin for sure. It will cobalt and blister. I used vinyls ester resin on mine, it's made for underwater exposure. I used my chopper gun and put 3 layers on it and finished with 1/4 inch weave cloth. You'll have to either gelcoat or use epoxy pool paint to finish.
