This fiberglass insert fought be a bit, but a little persuasion from a size 11 boot got the job done lol!

Hi Andy, Here's a little trick you may want to try when you have 5 minutes. Lay up 2 layers of glass; about a foot square, upon a piece of plastic, glass or other smooth surface. Just as the resin starts to go off. Get a wragg/cloth made from from linen etc, soak it in acetone; not too wet. Then wipe over the setting resin and watch what happens. All the fibres of the matt will separate and remove most, if not all of the resin richness there is. Gives an unbelievable, professional finish. Also useful when you do not want to use large amounts of fillers. Thank you for the help you offer. Daniel

A trick I've used when piecing together fiberglass parts for glassing that might have been useful here particularly along your top edge is cutting the parts to fit and then temporarily stitching together the parts using 16 gauge copper wire. Taper the two meeting surfaces and drill small holes on opposing sides. Loop a piece of copper wire through the holes and cinch it up tight with pliers. Put a stitch about every 8 inches along the joint. By tightening the copper wire with pliers it pulls things together and holds things in place. Then I put a fillet of thickened epoxy between the stitches. Once hardened you can remove the copper stitches and proceed with glassing the joint.

Hi Andy, love your work, I left the following comment on your Overview video and decided to updated it to here, Greetings from Australia Regards Steve. "Hi Andy, given your hair and skin ( similar to mine ) and the fact that you would presumably have your kids on board, in your position and skill set I would convert the boat to a sedan cruiser with a fibreglass and timber roof extending back to about half way along the the deck area. Great for sunny and rainy days ( when the weather closes in rapidly ) with faired in solar panels on the roof charging batteries or a sunbathing area if really necessary. The classic lines of this boat would suit this very well"

Andy, how can you tell if your boat was made with epoxy or polyester resin? or what are your thoughts on what was used when a 1995 Wellcraft 238ccf was made?

#BoatworksToday Andy was wondering if you have flow coated a deck to cure the polyester resin under it. Would it be ok to clean off the wax on the surface of the flowcoat in order to lay up more glass on top of it? What am asking really is if i clean of wax would it be ok to laminate again on top of it? Rab

Since you've been working with the new Totalboat Thixo tubes, is it worth it for larger projects, or is it still better to pipe in thickened peanut butter epoxy? I;m going to start working on construction of a 28' stitch and glue boat and thought Thixo would be easier to use and wouldn't have to rush as much from curing times.

Andy, I bought a 73 bellboy that the motor mounts are rotted out and was quoted 5k to fix. this is more than twice what I paid for this boat so I am doing the work myself. I cant find any videos addressing this type of project so i was wondering if you have done a video on this?

I believe there are 5:1 and 2:1 calibrated pumps for epoxy. Why does measuring epoxy in a measuring cup work better for you? Do you ever measure epoxy on a scale?

For small mixes I do use pumps, but when needing to dispense 18 ounces or more that's a lot of pumping lol! Much faster to pour the material out in the correct ratio ;-)

Weird seeing green fiberglass work. In boat factories, they use die in the MEKP to know that the resin is catalyzed. As a mechanic on internally mixed spray equipment seeing green glass make me cringe!!! Nice work.
