I love Manx Loughton. I spun up over 1kg and knitted a huge cardigan. It’s like wearing a blanket and so so warm. It’s squishy but slightly scratchy at first but after a bit of wear I don’t notice the scratchiness. It’s my favourite cardigan for the winter because it’s massive and so warm. My cats all love it and as soon as I sit down wearing it they are all trying to burrow into it. Love these breed studies.

That's so great! Yes, it is too real. I"m finding myself staying home, because when I go out, people doom and gloom me to death. I don't know how people can just listen to news on it day in and day out and not lose their minds. I'm not burying my head in the sand, but my brain needs more than just fire and brimstone for stimulation.

That golden brown is so cool. This makes me wonder--have you ever thought about doing a wrap-up video for this at the end of the study? Maybe top two or three fibers in a few different categories - favorite/least favorite to spin, squishiest, smoothest, most surprising, most likely to be purchased again, etc. I've just really enjoyed seeing the comparisons between each pair of fibers; might be cool to see you compare them all together and hear which ones stand out!

Awesome stuff Trish! I love that you've added other species to your breed study, yay! Please consider adding angora rabbit too, it's so soft, and the halo! I purchased a mini breed study and planed to source the rest from my stash. You see I got a bunch of fiber in September when I started spinning. Just this week I assembled everything and discovered I had about 90% of what I need to follow along including the Manx for this week. It was the very first fiber I purchased whilst awaiting my fist spinning wheel to arrive way back in August. FYI, I'm not enjoying the hair like breeds. Otherwise this is an amazing learning experience and every spinner should give this a try. I make it a point to watch your video first just to see how things went. Much thanks for all the tips and advice.
@FiberLoveDiary3 жыл бұрын
That sounds really cool. Those long wools and primitive breeds that are more like hair aren't really my favorite either, but some of them are nice for lace. I think it's good too to know what you don't love so you don't buy a whole fleece not knowing!

Trish, I woke up yesterday morning thinking it was Tuesday. So disappointed I had to wait another day for this week's breed video. I so look forward to these videos. As for additionals fiber types, I had received some pygora goat fiber. It was brushed from the goat. Lots of VM and dirty. I am slowly working through it. I hope to have enough to make a couple of beanies for the owners as a memory of their goat. It is very downy and soft. Any tips? And, finally, my little black boy (Basso, a kitty), wanted to say "hi" to Luther. He loves the videos, too. Until next Tuesday.

I love this series! I started watching it to learn how to pronounce the mysterious names but keep watching because you are amazing! Do you wet finish your skeins? If so do you wait to judge the characteristics until it's dried or do you find that step unnecessary? Also, when measuring the locs, do you stretch them tip to tip or measure it relaxed? Lastly, do you have a patreon? Thanks for your wealth of knowledge and this channel! I am so glad to have found it.

Uggh! I hate it when Michigan makes the news because of our spikes! Not really what I'd like us to be known for... Speaking of Michigan... And this can be answered any time later, but I had a shepherd friend say to me, casually, "Michigan Wool has not been that great." And I can't stop thinking about that. Why would the entire state have a bad rep on wool raising? I will ask her when I see her again, but she's not digital, so I'm asking if you know why we have that rep. I've had lovely stuff from Michigan shepherds... so...?
