I'm recovering from 9 years of severe CFS/fibro/and all the the things that go with it, working from a TMS viewpoint the past year or so and listening to success stories and podcasts is my daily therapy. Monica - this has been a real eye opener, you've shone a light on massive things I completely missed... really thought I was living my best life when CFS took me down, couldn't pinpoint what the trigger was so I figured it's all from early childhood trauma (which definitely set the stage). I see now I was living that best life 9 years ago, big and loud, in order to ignore numerous losses and abandonments from the two years prior. How in the world did I not see it until now?! These amazing brains of ours really do a phenomenal job at keeping us safe from emotional pain/danger, even to the point of hiding them in the (brain)fog. Thank you Dan & Monica for addressing chronic fatigue - intellectually I know it doesn't matter what the name of the sensation is, fatigue/pain/IC/pots/etc, I can interchange the words when I listen to podcasts but it really is more powerful when we hear it actually addressed. So many of us have deep wounds from years of doctors, forums & support groups saying: this is it, nothing we can do, just get used to it. I'm very grateful the past few years have brought so many podcasts, resources and success stories that finally outweigh the dark messages of despair we'd been hearing. Today I have no doubt and believe in my own recovery 100%. No idea how long it will take or what it will look like along the way, but it is already happening. I bought a car and am driving a little bit again, getting in the ocean, walking more, cleaning my house - all the things that seemed impossible during the bedridden years. Step by step.

Yea well celery juice helped me incredibly with my SIBO. I honestly don’t know what I would’ve done without it, especially when my stomach was void of acid and I was scared and suffering and didn’t know the things I do now. I know it’s not the cure to mind-body conditions but if it helps people, you don’t have to put it down.

@@ariannateodora5469 there are literally medical grade breath tests that measure it in your stomach. It makes complete sense that there is bacteria in your stomach/small intestine all the time. When your stomach stops working properly the bacteria overgrows and causes havoc. But you can get your stomach back to working properly where it controls the bacteria again in the corrwct way. I was able to fix it. Yea TMS might have been the reason why my stomach got all out of whack but then it got so bad that I had to treat the sibo and the other problems that were happening because of it. You can call everything quakery and poo-poo other people’s real life experiences and science. Or you can do some research and not sound like an a-hole just because you’re experiences are different.

Your chronic illness journey is so similar to mine. Thank you so much for sharing it! After I had a bad case of Covid/pneumonia in April 2020 I was recovering then I had a really stressful event happen at work and I started the cascade of symptoms within a month I had classic CFS, POTS, and neuralgia of my legs/feet that required me to use a cane to walk. Over the next 7 months I was trying to manage my symptoms and go to all the specialists. I was diagnosed with celiac disease ( causing the neuralgia). Then 8 months after having Covid the first time I got it again and two weeks later I came down with fibromyalgia. Approximately, 6 months after that I was having anaphylactic reactions to food, environmental substances, and dander. This is when I found DNRS, and later, Schubiner, and your videos Dan! I am so thankful for You and your work! I am almost fully recovered! I am back to work and back to loving life! Your videos are part of my daily morning routine. Thank you so much, Dan!

@@tominnc315 Hi Tom! I know it is hard to buy in to the idea of TMS. Especially, if you have had practitioners tell you that “ it is all in your head.” I had that experience so I was resistant to any treatment that could be considered psychosomatic because my pain and symptoms were 100% real! I know your are 100% real too. I was reluctant too to buy in 100%. But as you practice these principles you will see and feel your symptoms getting better. When that happens that will give you confirmation that you are on the right track. I am glad you joined Dan’s Wednesday program. Having a support during this learning is so important! It also gives you more confirmations as other members of your group start seeing positive changes! I am so glad you are taking a leap of faith! Good luck!👍

Dan, thank you so much for sharing this. I asked about this type of video awhile back and this delivered! I was literally just in bed after a shower fatigued feeling like I had a fever knowing it was TMS. I gave myself 5 minutes to relax it didn't go away so I got up to watch a video of yours. Of course it is a video about a CFS/Fibro success story! I got a sad lonely feeling when Monica said she was back to normal life in 6 months after reading Sarno. I am on year 3 of recovering and slowly getting better still. What makes this story so relatable is that she had to overcome TMS coming back several times. This makes me feel less alone and more resolved in getting my mind right and keeping it right for the rest of my life! I felt way less fatigue and almost back to normal just 10 minutes into the video. Thank Monica for sharing this, I know how hard it would be for me to share my story I would probably cry at several points.

The experience you shared in the last paragraph of your comment is 10000% proof that it's TMS and that complete recovery is possible. The key is to make that state of calm and confidence your familiar state of being. Once you do, your brain will begin to relax and the symptoms will fade away.

Hi Tom - The unreal fatigue and body pain of the CFS/Fibro went away - but I am still having TMS to this very day. BUT I am NOT bed ridden - I am not on crazy medications or any weird diet. I am 100% working full time. I’m not in the “best” shape, but WOW I can walk for an hour and feel great- I am getting back into running and I can do about 2 miles. Lately I am facing some heavy stressors - and my legs are cramping again. I feel upset but I now know I have resources! I watch the videos, and listen to the podcasts- it REALLY helps - just keep going! Hugs- M

Hits home when she says she may have found a way to isolate so she wouldn’t get hurt again. I can identify with that. After both my parents passed the very innocuous “Fibro” that I’d learned to manage for years, spiked. I felt so lost when they died I nearly lost my mind (In retrospect maybe I should have). I withdrew and trusted no one. Then chronic pain made me isolate completely. the only thing I was doing was working cause I had to to eat. I see it all now. I even say to myself, when someone loses their hearing, “what is it you don’t want to hear?” What is it someone doesn’t want to see when they lose their eyesite? Interesting questions. I have a friend who falls or hurts herself every time her son mentions he wants to move in with his girlfriend or move away. I can see it but she can’t.

Drinking a lot would give me an hour or two of some pain relief but it wasn't lasting, practical, or reliable. The number one thing that got my mind off the pain enough to soothe and smile a bit was high potency Indica strain vape marijuana as a muscle relaxer and stress reliever. I have migraine since the age of 3 and at 16 developed extreme neck pain resulting in severe neck headaches for exact 72 hours twice a month. It's like magic, the duration, the timing all of it. And doctors can't find anything wrong. I know it is TMS and been following your work, Curable app and being on the FB groups. Saw a bit of improvement but still in a lot of pain. I don't know where I'm messing up, I'm just 25 and I need direction about doing this right.

I've been diagnosed with arthritis in both shoulders but I also feel that I could fit the picture of TMS with things that have happened in other parts of my body. I'm not really interested in major surgery. So wonder if this could help in some way. Thanks so much for your videos they're inspiring even if it doesn't help.

Everybody has arthritis. It's called aging. Most arthritis does not hurt. So, yes, it's likely TMS causing the pain. Arthritis is the innocent bystander that may have nothing to do with the pains. The best way to determine is to see how the pain behaves. DanBuglio.com/paintest - a score over 29 means it's TMS that is causing the pain.

I don't know much about that - but inflammation of blood vessels sounds physical. The ONLY part that may be worth considering is that the immune system is suppressed and doesn't work optimally when under stress. If you are a high stress person, the stress may be contributory. I would still work with a doctor on this one.

This is exactly why I have pain too. A lot of severe abandonment issues and trauma. Before the pain started I lost all my friends and my relationship. Had to go back to uni and spent everyday in bed in my room alone before the pain started. Pain is here to keep me invisible so I dont have to do life and be abandoned or rejected. Pains here to keep me attached to parents and keep me small so I dont have to face abandonment again. Im aware of all of this. Doing a lot of IFS parts work with a therapist. Problem is, pain has become a habit, and now I'm stuck in this town due to how many symptoms from four years of freaking out and adding more stress on myself. Not sure how to fix it?

Hi Dan! In this video Monica mentions Nicole Sacks' teachings and the curable app helped here getting rid of the pain. Recently I'm watching your more recent videos that say doing the journaling (like Nicole recommends) or doing somatic tracking (like with the curable app Monica also used) or doing physical therapy, etc may be bad for chronic pain because it tells our brains that there is something wrong with us and it is better to don't do any of those things and instead talk to ourselves convincingly that there is nothing wrong with us. I have a trip coming that will last like 25 days and was thinking of doing an experiment of not doing the physical therapy (since I won't be able to) and do the journaling Nicole Sachs recommends. But watching your more recent videos now I am in doubt of doing that and don't know if maybe don't do it because it can make me feel worst during the trip.

I have been holding a diary for pains the last 24 hours and I can tell you, the more I write down, the more pains I get. This might be personal but I do firmly believe now that it gets worse the more you focus on it. You can always start with trying to journal things and if it backfires you can stop it again.

That’s interesting - I’d like to learn more about that. Among the dozens of Doctors i saw - I did go to a Rheumatologist and she said (this was like over 15 years ago) that the CFS/Fibro “overlap” - which made sense to me - i had horrible joint pain! so she started to treat me for rheumatoid arthritis which was to go to the warm water therapy pool 2x a week. I went and I could barely move - even in the super warm beautiful indoor pool - (i could easily swim my whole life before the CFS/Fibro came on) I did the 3 months she suggested and nothing changed.

TMS does not have to be a lifetime battle. Recovery is not simply about understanding TMS intellectually. We need to teach the brain that we are safe. Emotionally, physically and mentally. The info below will guide you through understanding TMS at a deeper level and give you a number of options to carry you forward on your recovery journey. Foundational Information: Understanding Pain Watch the video at: PainFreeYou.com Watch the video about Perceived Danger Pain: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qp-4Z354dttonMk - this explains SO much of what is going on. Next Level: Determining if your pain is from TMS/PDP: Take the pain test: DanBuglio.com/paintest - a score over 29 means you have TMS / Perceived Danger Pain. This also means you CAN end your symptoms. Do the FIT assessment below. If you answer yes to even one of the criteria, it is very likely your brain creating the pain based on perceived danger. FUNCTIONAL: -Symptoms began without a physical precipitation -Symptoms persist after an injury has healed (3-6 mo) -Symptoms are in a distribution pattern that is symmetric -Symptoms occur on one whole side of the body or occur on half of the face, head, or torso -Symptoms spread over time to different areas of the body -Symptoms radiate to the opposite side of the body or down a whole leg or arm -Symptoms that occur in many different body parts at the same time -Symptoms that have a quality of tingling, electric, burning, numb, hot or cold INCONSISTENT: -Symptom shift from one location in the body to another -Symptoms are more or less depending on the time of day. Or they occur first thing in the morning or in the middle of the night -Symptoms occur after, but not during, an activity or exercise -Symptoms occur when one thinks about them or when someone asks about it -Symptoms occur when stresses increased or one thinks about stressful situations -Symptoms are minimal or nonexistent when engaged and joyful or distracting activities, such as when on vacation -Symptoms are minimal or nonexistent after some kind of therapy, such as massage, chiropractic, Reiki, acupuncture, an herbal or vitamin supplement TRIGGERED: -symptoms are triggered by things that are not related to the actual symptom, such as foods, smells, sounds, light, computer screens, menses, changes in the weather -symptoms are triggered by the anticipation of stress, such as prior to school, work, a doctors visit, a medical test, a visit to a relative, or a social gathering; or during those activities -symptoms that are triggered by simply imagining engaging in the triggering activity such as bending over, turning the neck, sitting or standing -symptoms that are triggered by light touch or innocuous stimuli, such as the wind or cold Moving forward: Free general recommendations. Many around the globe are getting well with just my free content. Now you know what is causing pain. Next step is beginning to TEACH the brain to turn it off. Since perceived danger is what turns pain on, teaching safety is the solution. This vide gives you many examples of messages of safety. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4TWfKF3nKappLs Begin to watch my free daily coaching videos at DansKZbin.com. A new video posts daily at 5am Eastern.
