Sweet young Isabel, how heartbreaking you had to endure that attitude. You are still young and now is the time for you to spend your time beating this. Look into diet and teach yourself a whole new way of preparing food and eating. Become an expert at what you have been dealt and that will give you the strength to educate people around you who are ignorant of the subject. Did you ever see the Cinderella movie with Lily James? At the end, despite all the grief and cruelty her stepmother gave her, Cinderella turned and said..."I forgive you". Now is the time for you to do that Isabel and take back your power. God love you Isabel and find some comfort knowing that others know the challenges you live with.

Poor thing. I've had Fibro for nearly 30 yrs. I'm 57. My advice to you is just be extra kind to your body. Drink plenty of water, eat a well balanced diet. Try to limit sugar and bad carbs. Find out what your body can tolerate as far as exercise. This condition is manageable, with lifestyle changes. So if you need any advice or have a question, I will try to help you. (I'm a nurse, as well, so I have lots of info.)

Very informative a lot of useful tips. The main thing is to simplify everything and learn to pace yourself. Enjoy the journey through life. Slow down a bit. I have a wheelchair also that I use to do my floors or when I am having bad days. That way I don’t have to stay in bed all day. I have a cordless vacuum mop that I use while in my wheelchair. When you sweep or mop do not use your arms back and forth so much. Just follow the dust mop as much as you can and let your body weight do the pushing. I have several things I use to help with cleaning. Long handles help so I do not have to stretch or bend. Lightweight vacuum cordless. Dyson is great. I also use a spill proof cup by my bed. Lots of pillows heating pad. The works! It is not easy to deal with. For the toilet get a bidget. If you have IBS you will thank me for that advice. It sprays your bottom and clean up is much easier and cleaner. Buy a suction cup hand held holder for your shower so you can have the water hand held close to you. You don’t even have to hold it that way. There are a lot of things to do. Have everything you need close by in every room. Organize and simplify.

Lovely tips! I try to bulk cook meat & bag it up by the pound in the freezer. I gave up on bras a couple years ago. I mostly wear bralettes or shelf bra camis. Victoria’s Secret makes one that’s a glorious cross between a silky soft sports bra & a “normie” bra. No hooks, wires, ect. I can’t have the clasp on my spine so these are a God send! Epsom salt Baths are lovely, too!

Excellent haul of tips there, Nicola, thank you so much for all your work digging these out for us, and also showing us so many of the bits & bobs that make your life easier. LOL! You and I have almost the same sofa setup 😊 my Hubby calls it my nest 😁 I knew about most of those excellent suggestions, but you've reminded me to get an automatic can opener: cans are getting progressively harder for me to open as I can't put pressure on them and open them properly, so end up with a sharp edge/partially open tin which is dangerous. I adore my slow cooker! I also have a rice cooker (about £15 on Amazon IIRC) and that's fab too - I cook rice & quinoa in it too. The chillow can go in the fridge/freezer, but I never bother with mine as it's already plenty cold enough. I put mine in my pillowcase, just on top of the pillow. You can also put them under your laptop to stop it overheating, apparently LOL! I batch cook too. I'd highly rec a steamer (mine was about £5 in Asda). I batch cook veggies in it (just top in bags of frozen stuff),, then transfer it to takeaway boxes in portions. I do it twice a week & then just microwave as needed. Re: potatoes - If I have loads left over or 'on the turn' I chop them into roughly 1 inch cubes (with skins on) and chuck them in the oven for about 30-40 mins. No oil, no nothing, just the tatties. Once they're cooked & browned I freeze them, then they're ready to go when needed (20 mins in oven from frozen & they're cooked). You can add stuff to them but they taste really nice & soft/fluffy with nothing added too. Thanks for all your vids! You're content makes me smile & really helps me remember that there are others out there who truly understand what a challenge the Spoonie life is. Love ya, Spoonie Sister x 😘

I’m in the process of acquiring a 10 in 1 cooker. You can make a wide varity of foods in them. They are also easy to clean. As a visually impaired person i need to be able to hold thing closely to my face to see them so I traded in my laptop as i had to either jold it upbor bend over to read the screen even with magnification. I traded my laptop for a lightweight tablet that s only weighs 1 pound. I switched all my dishes from ceramic to lightweight heavey duty plastic. I use a customized ski pole as a white cane as it has shock absorbing technology in the joints and handle and a rubber tip to help reduce jolting. It too is a very light weight item.

Firstly, thank you for your kind words. All I want to do is help people live the best life they can like I do! Secondly, I am so sorry for your situation it must be really hard. I have researched myself to get help as no professional has helped me! Check out my other videos which should help. As for putting socks on, I know there is a gadget you can but for that. Do you have amazon there? I always have to sit down to put things on but sometimes get help from my family. I think, it's about treating us as a whole no miracle cure tablet will work or one thing, it's a multitude of things that help. Counselling has helped and herbal meds i researched. Also, singing and seated yoga you can do on You Tube. Like I say, watch some of my other videos to get some more ideas! Hope that helps! Much love.

@@LordandLordettes hello thank you for the tips. It's good to have an idea of what to use and what to do I will definitely look at your other videos .and yes we do have amozon here it comes in handy . Only thing is since I last message you I unfortunately had 2 disk in my lower spine ruptured 🙁 it's as you can imagine excruciating agonizing pain .I can't walk if I try it's smaller then baby steps. No pain meds will help. So I'm actually waiting to hear from the spinal surgeon to see when I can be seen and what he can do for me. I'm actually scared of surgery.cause I had a hysterectomy 4 years ago and the pain was unbearable no words can describe it more then that. But I keep praying all goes well and I can get back to moveing . Thank you darling 🌹 have a great and healthy loveing day.

With regard to lists…. I keep ongoing lists. For example when I go to the chemist (pharmacy) to get my prescription meds, I grab the chemist list and don’t need to remember all the other things needed from that shop. Likewise if my DH is off to the hardware shop or stationers, he can grab my list for that. As for to do lists, I often write a long list of everything. Then each day, depending on spoons, I will pick a couple of things off the list to do. Because the big list is ongoing, it is like a dream list and I don’t feel the compunction to complete it. (Actually, every now and then I review it and things can be crossed off even though they aren’t done, because they are no longer important. Yay.)

Regarding the go-bag, I have a VERY tiny little backpack I got from Walmart that I started carrying in lieu of my purse ages ago, mostly because it's easier to keep hold of, but it's come in really handy as a go-bag or sorts. It's not terribly bigger than my old purse was --- JUST large enough for my wallet and phone (since it does double as my purse now), a little snack bar and some hard candies plus a tea bag or two, my inhaler and a tiny bottle of Tylenol (which is full of various tiny ring baggies of different clearly labeled meds instead), my mask, a small bottle of hand sanitizer, my "Two Old Goats" lotion (use it for my neuropathy in my hands since it kicks in whenever I use them too much), a little portable hand fan (in case I get the sweats or need to cool off quickly), and my Kindle Oasis (waterproof in case I drop it, yeah baby), some extra hair pins and hair ties (always loosing the bastards), plus a few other tiny things if I need / want to switch it up. And then it has a clip I've added if I want to add on a water bottle to carry with me (which I have a mini one for). I definitely recommend a go-bag after carrying mine for so long, but they really don't have to be huge- let alone full of full-sized items, either ... I really only keep enough with me for a single use kind of "emergency" or a "tide me over" kind of situation.

Maybe you've already discussed this on previous videos, but food can have a tremendously negative affect. The nightshade plants, such as potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, etc. (sweet potatoes are ok, but remember the skin of vegetables, which unfortunately has the most benefits, is hard on the GI system if you have any abdominal upset/pain) of course the #1 culprit is sugar. Certainly beats medications and all the anti-depressants doctors try to push (because they don't know anything about the subject). I wear shoulder and waist braces when going shopping = pushing shopping cart, lifting. Also orthotic (orthosis) hand braces. Big difference.

I thought I just had osteoarthritis, but now I am thinking I may have fibro. I suffer from hot flashes even though I am way past menopause, and have terrible pains in my hands and muscle weakness. Sometimes I cannot open jars and lose my grip. This has all happened over the last 6 months or so. Also, my shoulders feel weak and I have theses random pains that move about and exhaustion. Think I will chat with my doctor and see what he thinks. Thx for this video! X

Oooh. Sounds like fibromyalgia to me. You need to get diagnosed darling. Not that my diagnosis helped me medically but it did help a bit mentally as no one believed me until I got diagnosed. 25 years later and I do still have to explain to my loved ones why I can't...(whatever it is that I can't do that day.) The hardest part is the mental part, in my opinion.

Thank you so much for these useful life hacks. I am terrible with peeling, kills my hands so I will try just chopping, one way of getting extra nutrition!

Exactly! 😉 In my latest weekly vlog, I share a new potato chopper which crinkles your potatoes and I found easier. 😊🌷

I've started using one of those veggie spiralizers, like you see on tv. It doesn't give you chopped veggies (eg. sweet potatoes or zucchini) but it twirls it up so you can then boil the veggies. Better to boil or steam them rather than frying; frying hard veggies can cause stomach/gut upset.

In America here … to touch the more shallow pain edges … I use Aspercreme with Lidocaine , the patches left me with some skin irritation. The roll on. I was diagnosed 25 years ago.
