Little Rock, Arkansas - Arkansas State Police Trooper Byrd stopped a Nissan Sentra driver for speeding and having a fictitious license plate. The vehicle suddenly took off from the traffic stop and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit ended near Baptist Hospital where the driver exited the vehicle and refused to comply with Trooper Byrd. After a brief struggle, the driver fled again, this time on foot, towards an apartment complex where Trp. Byrd and backup units took the driver into custody. A handgun was found in the suspect's vehicle. He was transported to the Pulaski County Regional Detention Center to await charges.

I may be in the minority, but I don't take any issue with Trooper Byrd walking in front of the vehicle during the initial stop. He told the driver to keep his hands on the wheel (so he couldn't put the car into drive) and pointed his flashlight at the driver, watching him the whole time. I'm sure he knew the risks, but he wouldn't have been able to see what the driver was doing if he walked around the back of the vehicle. This guy could have pulled out that gun and been firing by the time Byrd reached the driver's side.

if you think prison is so fun, then why dont you go there and find out? go run your mouth and tell everybody there how cushy they have it. america already has 25% of the worlds prison population. mass incarceration, corporal punishment, summary execution... these ideas have been tried, they dont work, theyre barbaric. and most importantly, dont solve the underlying societal problems. if they were effective, then the US would be the "safest" country in the world

police tactics evolve over time. It’s much more acceptable now, because a driver can throw the car in reverse just as much as they can go forward. At least if you’re in front of the car you can see the hands and sudden movements rather than walking behind the car where you can’t see anything and you can get pinned between their car and your car. Sincerely, a cop who is also adapting to evolving tactics.

For proper statistical observation, one has to check if there are appeals made. Locally, my courts convict the criminal when there is overwhelmining evidence. The conviction and sentence pleases the victim. The case then frequently gets appealed and depending on factors, the conviction can be overturned which pleases the race card activists.

I love how trooper Byrd anticipates the criminals move ahead of instead of following right behind. For ex. Making the wide turn on the turn about so he can keep some of the speed, in the parking garage, and even when the guy ran, Trooper Byrd anticipated the direction and saved himself some steps. Great Job!!
