Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.
I hope you enjoy my content and ask questions as you have them. I do my best to answer anything I can. Thanks for watching!
I appreciate you subscribing to my channel and liking my videos. You can also find me on Facebook borderviewfarms and on Instagram @borderviewfarms

I change my sight gauges every year and I always learned a lot from the field days that I attended. I’m retired now and really look forward to each of your videos. Keep up the good work!

Nathan, I was wondering on your rain maker plastic drops if you thought about trying a rubber hose for the up and down plastic pipes. My thinking is the rubber hose would go thru the corn stalks better then the hard plastic ones.

Seems like you are just going to have to buy a cool piece of tech every year to draw people to your field day!

Hi Nathan. Just watched a couple of YT channels previewing what's new at the farm progress show this year. Elmer's has a new grain cart that holds 3000 bushels and Massey is debuting the S9425.

Would you consider a quality glass tube for your sight gauge? If so consult a local organisation that installs dairy milking parlours as they are very competent with glass tubing and may be able to help you. An alternative is a float inside the tank attached to a cord that comes up , out of the tank over a pulley and down the side of the tank. it is attached to a marker " finger" that indicates the float position inside the tank. The confusing factor is that when the tank is full the marker finger is at the bottom of the the tank and vice versa when the tank is empty! Dan

How did your pork belly turn out? I have never tried it I want to but I know my doctor would most likely slap me for eating that. I will say it looked so good. How come Brock wasn’t there this year must’ve had to work other job. The house owner I know his pain lol. Have a good night/day Nathan.

He was there. He cooked the porkchops. I don't know how the pork belly turned out because it was gone before I made it through the line.
