Sounds like it was a good training experience for all of you. In and Out makes great burgers and fries. They are expanding east, supposed to be opening a store in Nashville TN, I hope they make it to Memphis too. Everything is made fresh and a simple menu which I think helps. Taping and or using a thin dropcloth to cover the seat trim is a good thing to do. Many many years ago,I think it was the first repair seminar that I attended, one of the instructors said there is NO excuse for overspray. And he is right. Yet we see it all the time. Overspray is a dead giveaway that something has been done, along with the usual bad repairs and wrong color matching dye jobs. It REALLY is not that much more effort to do it right the first time IF the person doing it has the knowledge, but obviously many of the guys out there do not know how to do it right. Again Rick kudos to you for sharing this invaluable information from your many years of experience and experimentation.

Can't wait to hear more about the new techniques you guys have come up with. One suggestion I can give for protecting the plastic trim from heat damage on the repair at about 12:45 is to cover it with Kapton Tape. When I was working in electronics, we used it to cover areas of the circuit board that we wanted to keep safe from the heat when replacing surface mount components using a heat gun. I've been using it on repairs like that one where I have a vinyl repair close to plastic. It works great. It's cheap on Amazon too.

I'm happy to share. This is probably obvious, but just keep in mind you have to make sure the edges are well stuck down so the air can't get under it. You also may need to use more than one layer. I hope it helps.

I don't have the time for that personally. Really I have two full-time jobs, one of which pays and one doesn't 😛. It is a good idea once the industry matures a bit.

There haven't been any seminars in some years. They haven't been well attended. You will find that each video is a seminar in itself and delves way deeper than we could at a seminar. If you have a suggestion for a video you'd like me to do then by all means let me know.

​@a.r.t.srealrepairsforrealc8247 That's understandable. I agree the videos are great! I don't have much that isn't down the pipeline. I'm interested in the new and better burn hole/fabric repair that Gary demonstrated in a past seminar, and the plastic reinforced vinyl repair method you spoke of in this video. I do not enjoy doing the velour burn hole repairs that I have been doing for some time for my dealers. It's not a repair, it's a temporary cosmetic. I'd like to be able to say I can repair the damage. I have also had trouble with some foam steering wheels (dodge trucks especially). They seem tough to regrain with a heat gun and grain pad after shaping and reconstituting with acetone. Thanks for all your hard work!

Thanks for the information. I always prep and tape off the areas I work on and use blankets to protect center console and seats. texturing is something I need to work on, and sewing is something I do not do. I relay on my graining pads.
