Thanks! The last opportunity for that topic slipped through my hands. No pun intended for once. It's on my list. I appreciate it. 👍

Rick l am retired but l still see your videos watching this one on the water pigments. It is user friendly we can think we are done and after dry we catch a small section needs another pass or so it self correct don't need to whole section

Great video! separate gun for plastics, plastic adhesion. When I did windshield repair in west Chester County, NY, always heat up car. In Florida now, water base in heat. I need to use more pigments.

As always very good information, and thanks to Gary for adding his input. I also started with and pretty much exclusively used solvent base finishes for many years. I dabbled with using waterbase finishes and found them difficult to mix, before the separate clear / base systems were commonly available. The basecoat clearcoat waterbase system of refinishing is just superior in so many ways. It's cheaper, you can match colors that you can not match with solvent dyes, and you can do jobs that you would never be able to do with solvent dyes. We regularly do refinish jobs that would be impossible to do with solvent dyes and they look AND feel good too and will wear better. The spray can dyes are generally so thin because they have to add so much solvent to get them to spray, therefore they don't cover well. And using them is very expensive and you can't adjust the colors. I know a guy who is now using the waterbase dyes, he used to spray colors from aerosol rattle cans into cups to mix the colors then put that into a Preval, talk about an inefficient system! If you are buying SEM Colorcoat in bulk, it's like $80 a quart now, over $200 a gallon. And in my opinion it's not as good as it was years ago either. As Gary mentioned if it is really cold, even using solvent dyes is a problem outside. I've done that with a spray gun in one hand and a heat gun in the other hand, wiping snow off. I used to turn the heat on in the cars too, and run AC in the summer if need be. Putting a small heater in your work truck or the area where you store your water base product is a good idea, I have just been bringing my freezable items inside when it's way below freezing. I do still use premix waterbase for colors that we do all the time as it's just so easy but mixing pigments is the way to go for other colors. Separate guns for clear and pigments and for solvent and WB is a must do! Thanks as always for sharing this invaluable information that not many people have access too, much less for free!
