Fiesta ST vs Cobra Jet Mustang: Who Will Win? | Performance Vehicles | Ford Performance

On one side, you have a 2013 Cobra Jet Mustang -- a 5.0L V8 powerplant with a Ford Racing-built Whipple 2.9L Supercharger. On the other is a Ford Fiesta ST Competition Car -- a 2.0L, 550+ horsepower engine with an OlsbergsMSE gearbox with custom ratios.
For fun, we took one of each to zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, with drivers Roy Hill and Tanner Foust...just to see how the two would compare on the quartermile.

This fiesta is built for drifting and circle racing. His gear box is completely custom. He was only doing 127 which means his final drive was a lot smaller than the cobra jet. It wasn't a speed limiter, he was in top gear hitting the rev limter meaning he was topping the car out as far as the gears would take him.

Mine can go fast in a straight line... as long as it isn't dirty, raining, or anything else that may hinder me driving. Mine can go fast in a straight line or around curves. Plus, it doesn't matter what kind of conditions I drive in. Rally or Rally Cross cars are some of the most versatile vehicles in the world for competition. I used to think NASCAR was great when I was a child. Then I found the world of Rally and never looked back. To each their own.

10.5 is faster than a modified GT-R. I gotta say that's some impressive numbers for a guy who does off-road in a Fiesta. I was actually going for the Fiesta but I should of known the the Mustang having a parachute it's most likely under 10 seconds.

Ok, so, I would assume 2 liter turbo awd fiesta. ran a 10 second 1/4. And the only reason he didn't run faster its because the gearbox isn't set up for it. that's a 9 second car with a longer gear. Not bad for less than half the displacement.

I think the short gearing kept him in the race, i.e. better acceleration. Even when he's got the weight advantage, he still has around half the power.

+Salvatore Briganti rally ready would mean soft suspension and tiny rims + large rubber, not ideal for street or track use (which is what most people want it for). an extra couple thousand bucks or so on top of a new vehicle to prep it for rally isn't a big deal anyway
