Good to see more female muslim representation in fields where they're underrepresented. As a muslim australian and a north african/arab I feel the constant pressure to defend my religion and my existence as if I'm not worthy of living in the country I was born and call home Australia. I do feel people are becoming more open minded and less bigoted despite all the racism and islamophobia happening right now.

Dr. Rabah!! I love this series! I'm starting medical school in the fall and have started thinking about residency, and I'd love your commentary on the impact of being in a surgical residency on your mental health/general wellbeing. From your socials, it seems like you're often not getting nearly enough sleep/have very little time off to attend to life things and it makes me feel concerned, especially because I'll be 30 when I enter residency and will be looking to start a family. Thank you

Thank you for being open and sharing! I’m sorry you felt like you had to defend your religion although I totally understand why you did. I would say that all faiths have people under their banner that don’t represent their values. As a Christian my heart breaks when I see people who claim to be the same but cause pain and hurt to others. Keep shining your light!

Great video Dr. I have an interesting question... are international dentistry students allowed to rotate in OMFS in the US? What should I do if I want to go into OMFS residency in the US as an international? Can we just pay for it (tuition, stay, etc) and then return to our home country with an American degree?

I enjoy watching your channel, but I have questions and am not sure who to ask... Because I do not want to offend you (or someone else) in my asking them. I am a white bread Midwest American, who has had little to no positive exposure to the middle east culture & muslim faith, but quite a bit of negative. As a child in 1990's elementary school I was assigned a Pakistani pen pal, but didn't understand the culture or why her letters always came opened and blanked out as thought someone had opened her letters and crossed out information using a sharpie... Since then I have read some about the situation in her region at the time, but I still don't really understand very much. One question I have is: "Why do some women have to wear hijabs, and/or burka (sp?) and others do not?" My understanding is limited. I know it is. But, I thought that women were not too work outside the home when the Muslim family is "devout", & I'm sure you are a good Muslim, so how are you allowed to go to university and achieve medical degrees if you aren't supposed to be in positions of authority and work outside the home?? In doing so are you at risk of honor retribution? Are you pretty much allowed to do what you want living here in the U.S. or do you have to "get permission" from the male authority in the family (father, husband etc) as you might have been expected to if you still lived in a heavily Islamic country? I'm sorry if I am not phrasing my questions correctly and offend you. I am just trying to understand. I know you're very busy, and I understand if you don't answer. I'm sure my questions are not "simple" to respond to and might require lengthy explainations.

How do you reconcile Islam as a peaceful religion when it advocates very bad consequences for apostasy?
@wale9d3 жыл бұрын
That's in the false teachings not in the Quran.. the prophet actually had witnessed people committing apostasy and never even imprisoned them let alone killing, but other muslims didn't like that freedom and mercy so they had to invent sayings on behalf of him to make him blood thirsty like them, there is so much corruption in the muslim culture about Islam, it's takes a while to explain, muslims are no different than any other religious group that misused their own book to match their twisted desires, because humans are the same everywhere, everytime, and remember that the truth is often with the minority not the majority, that is a repeated idea in the Quran.
