I remember thrashing a Lamorghini around Thruxton and noticed something in my peripheral vision as I was taking one of the sweeping corners on that fantastic circuit. It was Tiff Needell in an M5, only weirdly he was pointing pretty much directly at me - it was the most outrageous bit of drifting I've ever seen. He is some driver.

Suhail Nayanthara I’m pretty sure the t.50 will be a better car on paper, performance or experience. What I believe the t.50 will have to live up to are things like being a Le Man winner on the 1st year, holding the fastest record for years before technology caught up, being limited bec. of circumstance not by design and other intangibles that makes the F1 legendary.

I can't wait for the T50 - even though I can't afford one! Gordon Murray is a genius and understands the joy of driving. The performance this car achieved was a by product of the engineering and attention to detail. For those who say "but such and such is faster", really can't be petrol heads, as they don't understand the joy of driving.

Though the engine was built by BMW. It was designed by Gordon Murray and they built it to his exact design a fantastic engine, the sound of it beats any other super car. The F1 is still the fastest naturally aspirated car in the world today!

Saw one in Keswick Britain. Parked in a bad street for 3 days outside my house. Turns out the guy was just there to drive mountain back roads, tried my hardest to get a ride but only managed to sit in it :( . There were a McLaren SLR and a 356 also. Great view while doing the dishes :)

Still haven't ever seen one on a road or at a car show ever. I think for all intents and purposes, people need to treat cars like this as if they don't exist..... or that they exist in an alternate universe apart from our own. It's fun to talk about. It's a gorgeous looking car. The performance is mind boggling. However, it's very much imaginary... like a car in a video game. With fewer than 100 in existence it essentially doesn't exist. What would amaze me is if an automaker like Ford, GM, Toyota, Honda, etc...... built a car that LOOKED like/similar to a McLaren F1, had a central driving position, had good performance, and didn't cost $20 million dollars. In other words: Build the body. Put one of your company's better engines in it, and sell it for a price that ordinary people could actually afford. It wouldN'T be a McLaren F1, but who cares? Nobody knows what a McLaren F1 is like anyway, so you have no competition. It's not like people can go drive one and compare. Ford could build a car that looked like that, and had a similar engine and driving position setup, and stick a Mustang GT engine in there and you would have a pretty darn cool, lightweight, sports car that is more than fast enough for 99% of people. Again, you're not comparing it to the McLaren F1 because people can't buy one anyway..... so who cares if you only get say 50% of the way to the F1 experience. Nobody will ever know the difference. But car makers like Ford are too afraid to try anything fun.

I remember when there was a Maclaren showroom in marble Arch London back in the eighties and going into the showroom and asked how much is it, and the salesman said from what i can remember was around £400,000, and it was in a nice silver grey colour. Those were the days.

3:49 pretty good statement. McLaren F1 was desinged to driven by worthy drivers to understand true greatness of it. It didn`t gave you the control over car easly. This is one of the things that made it so beautiful. You had to fight with it for gaining control. Something like Bugatti Veyron would give you the control but steals the action. This is why Carrera GT was loved that much despite considered as most dangerous production car.

If talking about the F1 as an investment.... As with any investment you'll loose and you'll win. Some cars in your collection will make, most will loose money. And... the maintenance bills of the F1 will give you a better understanding of infinity.

Just like with the F1 he's about to blow away all the chaff and put out something that will be talked about for decades.

The S70 from BMW based on the 850ci the phenomenal power plant it's a great example of what a V12 should be but I'll tell you what if Honda had agreed to Gordon Murray's request I'm building the motor considering they dominated F1 with that phenomenal Brazilian I can almost guarantee that engine would be super expensive probably be a pain in Honda's ass but a winner and I am almost scared to say that would probably be better than the S70 because BMW wasn't winning F1 and 88 89 and 91 no it was McLaren and Honda in the form of a V6 twin turbo and many other cylinder arrangement and degree angled engines that were all beautiful.ARYTON SENNA ... rest in peace, you're full commitment and the fact that you were racing in a time when they were still experimenting in actual aerodynamic grip when it was purely mechanical grip when the control arm in the front was sitting too close to the cockpit you put it all in you died doing what you love. Most of my ideologies are crap amongst the critics they don't care they have money to spend and they don't need to commit themselves to overseer or understeer or speed of Entry they have all the electronic stuff to make them feel like they're the s***, but in the end analog earns you a lot more muscle memory, yeah I'm ready to box full blown I'm committed and like a beautiful Symphony Of Music there would be nothing like hearing my own beat to my drum before my end meaning it ain't going to take much for me to be satisfied with my demise unlike you m************

I want them to make the F1 again, maybe 200 examples, but I want them to keep the exterior styling EXACTLY as it is, but on the interior add few modern amenities and features and also perhaps make the interior more comfy. Nothing else should be changed.
