I made this using chopped fresh figs since they are in season and it was a very delicious cake, I will use much less sugar next time and more flour to make it more like bread as it was much too sweet for my family but very tasty. With love from Azerbaijan

Oh good I wondered if i I could use FRESH FIGS since I have too many from my tree right now & can’t even give them away. People don’t know how good Fresh Figs are. But I thought the batter might be too wet with Fresh Figs. Guess I’ll see.

I just tried to make this cake at home and it turned out AMAZING! I just didn't use cloves or grounded ginger because I can't find these items in my country and I used hazelnuts instead of walnuts because that was what I had at home... Thank you for sharing the recipe! ^.^ I will come back for many more now! :D

chef mike In Morocco, there are different ways to softened dried fruits: let sit in hot water or steam them. Then either we cut them and put in cakes, or we make a paste of them (especially dates) and use them as fillings for cookies. I like to use hot tea instead of just plain hot water :-)

It's in the oven now and smells wonderful.I'm curious as to why you don't just mix all the liquid all at once and then add the dry ingredients ending with the figs and walnuts. I didn't go through all those steps in your recipe, I just mixed the wet and then added the dry after. Most recipes I've used over the years do it that way so I'm hoping it will work out fine.

Hi Alia, this is gorgeous! :) Looking really attractive & delicious! Instead of tea, can I use water (not hot) & sugar? My mom always put it in water & sugar among other dried fruits to soften them for dried fruit salad. Can I use the same way of softening? Or something like soak it in juice after heating it? Thank you :)
@cookingwithalia
@cookingwithalia 9 жыл бұрын
OrchidFlower86 hot water makes the dried fruit soften faster. if you use cold water you'll have to wait a little more and they may not be as soft. it depends on how soft you want the dried fruits to be :-)

Guys never waste good butter for greasing a pan underneath the parchment paper. Use bad trans fat oils for that, place your paper (thogh the paper was made to prevent cake from sticking so why bother greasing under it anyways.) then roll your butter on the sides and over the parchment paper just a tiny bit because good parchment papers and well-beaten batters do not stick. Experience 💁🏻‍♀️
