It was an excellent sequel to a classic 80s action movie. No unnecessary activism, nonsense or disrespect to the source material. Just a well made love letter to military aviation and the pilots. I'll watch more than once

I agree with you guys on all of that. The unnecessary activism just turns me off off off. And I was already wary of the movie having had to sit through stories about China's purported involvement in the film and with jackets and patches and so forth, and also having seen a Tom Cruise meltdown about masks during some other filming that he was doing back in 2021 I think it was. I had lost respect for him in that moment. He was just unhinged and mistreating his crew on that other movie, and there was no good reason for that. I'm glad that this movie put all of the bullshit aside and left the politics at the door and just focused on being a good movie. It's only 1 of 2 movies I'll pay theater prices to see all this year. Because Hollywood generally (and specifically) still sucks. I will also add my recommendation to see this one in IMAX. It really is worth the extra cost. But don't drink all your soda too quickly. It's a looonnnngggg movie, and your bladder just ain't that big!

I'm pretty sure the Mach 10 plane in the beginning is called Darkstar. Fun fact, for the film they actually got Lockheed to design an an aircraft for them that would realistically look like a mach 10 airplane. They built an actual scale model of it and it was so convincing that China redirected a spy satellite to look at it when they were filming.

You mentioned feeling the engines in surround sound... and my brain instantly thot of that Hornet... wow, that was over 20yrs ago?! I'll never forget that the pilot had a French accent! Out of courtesy only asked one question next to my aviator buddy during movie: Does airhose really make a difference to hasten engine for quick takeoff ? Would have really liked to ask questions about aircraft design, differences between aircraft maneuverability, as film storyline only hints at performance variance between the few shown. Cheers to all aviators & those who've dealt with high Gs 😊💞🕊
@MysticalDragon73
@MysticalDragon73 2 жыл бұрын
Actually some aircraft require a huffer cart (thats what supplies the air to the air hose that connects to the aircraft) in order to start as they dont have starters on the engines or something providing their own air supply. Also the majority commercial aircraft have this connection if their APU is out in order to be able to start the engines. Some aircraft turbine engines use electric starters but air driven starters are far better and more common especially on larger turbine engines.

So would Rooster be credited with three air to air kills? Traditionally in the F-4 and F-14 both the pilot and the RIO were both credited with kills being part of a two crew aircraft. So Rooster would share two kills with Maverick and he also shot down the Hind, giving him three. One more than Hangman.

We quickly deemed the POS which was a direct reflection of how much we liked it. It didn’t take the contractor long to rename their product. Saw the movie last weekend. They really did a fantastic job with it. I guess they chose to execute their most dangerous mission in broad daylight because filming it at night wouldn’t look as cool.

Black Lightning would be a good name for the SR-72.

It is more realistic than the original film. I think they used T -38's representing the soviet aircraft in the first film and Su -57's in the second? Great movie though and love the input.

Spoiler Talk: I loved the movie but the ending was wayyy to Hollywood for me. I would have Maverick actually sacrifice himself to save Rooster. Then the team has to dogfight their way out. Hangman joins the fight and goes down to save a teammate. Rooster and Phoenix get kills and they make it back with Fanboy. Top Gun theme plays over Maverick's funeral. End credits.
