@@kevinbissinger yeah i don't really know what she thought she was going to accomplish when she got invited to debate someone who earns a living from being a fighter, on a channel that is solely about mma. She didn't really have a chance of changing his mind even if she had better arguments, but her arguments were extremely flawed anyway. She can't comprehend how someone can be so fascinated by fighting without ever considering throwing a punch in anger in their life. She can't separate her belief that to watch fighting, you have to be a bloodthirsty and violent person. She thinks that to fight or even watch you have to have this emotional attachment to violence and this simply isn't true. If anything, knowing more about fighting will make you realize how few problems you can solve with violence. She thinks that fighters and fans will be more violent because they're so involved in fighting, but if anything they will be more aware of the consequences of using violence outside of fighting and training, and will understand that violence is only going to make their lives worse unless they're using it to defend themselves. There's also the fact that allusions to animal fighting is flawed because they don't have a choice, and her desire to reduce injuries in fighting would require her to be even more against something like American football, or rugby, because the instances of lasting injuries or even death are considerably higher. In fact, Nathaniel messed his numbers when it comes to ufc fatalities, it's not that the ufc has considerably fewer fatalities than boxing and football, it has INFINITELY FEWER FATALITIES because the ufc has NEVER had a death inside the octagon, or even immediately after, the closest thing to a fatality would be someone dying from a weight cut, and i can't even think of an example for that.

This would be ABSOLUTELY POINTLESS if she wasn't willing to put into words how she subconsiously feels about it. It was very important for her to be polite yet adamant about the parts she CAN'T relate to, because these are thoughts and perspectives that are widely held in society. She went out on a limb, knowing she might look stupid and didn't know what she was talking about, to allow for him to ANSWER many questions and thoughts held by similarly uneducated viewers. That kind of willingness should be applauded even if you don't like someone as a person. It is productive toward the goal of greater understanding and less ignorance about the nature of MMA. Look, most people feel the way she feels about MMA when they see it the first time. Most people go through similar uncertainty, at least in the back of their minds. You don't get a gold star just because you were educated about this stuff at a younger age than she was. 🙄 And Nathan never really answered her questions about like "do you really ENJOY punching and hurting other people?" which honestly is confusing to large swathes of the population. The funny thing is, he has a bigger heart than she does on her best day. He's out there doing charities and putting in the work, she just likes to talk about being a good person lol

It’s not her ignorance that annoys me it’s her speaking about fighters as if what she’s saying is fact. I met some of the nicest ,and kind hearted, genuine people The fighters in my Muay Thai gym and in other gyms

Agreed ... i feel the most unconditional support and love from the people in my Muay Thai gym. Day 1, nobody knows who I am, and they're showing me respect and care right from the get-go and it's always been that way there

As soon as she’s close to understanding something she distracts herself by the word brutal, cockfighting, bloodthirsty etc.

Nathaniel has done a tremendous job here to educate someone who is not knowledgeable on the sport and he has perfectly handled this. Love how he dealt with this lady calmly and methodically. Bridging the gap. He is a great ambassador to the sport. Can't wait to see his next fight, been quality so far, LETS GO Nathaniel Wood!

It’s not like UFC fighters are assaulting random people on the street (usually). If two adults agree to mutual combat, for sport at that, what’s the problem?

Nathan being respectful as he gets cut off in the middle of a conversation is amazing. Discipline and respect from the fighter 🙏 I hope she can view things in a new light

This lady, like many pacificists, doesn't understand violence. She doesn't know how to separate play, competition, and murder. So she sees it all as murder and all fighters as bloodthirsty murders. I'm not the least surprised she's never been in a fight and assume was never really allowed to rough house.
@Bradley9967 Жыл бұрын
Fighting is more appealing to boys largely, as boys have more testosterone. So they often process fighting as play. Different parts of the brain light up.
@divadrelffehs Жыл бұрын
@@Bradley9967 true. And I would guess that she grew up with a mother similar to her who shut down all rough housing the moment it started out of worry that someone would get hurt. Effectively treating all rough play as dangerous violence instead of the bonding and boundary testing that it is.

@@divadrelffehs facts bro. I’ve played a bunch of sports from basketball to football but nothing truly gets your blood pumping than when another dude is trying to punch you in the face. It really tests your character
@KM-iv9xy Жыл бұрын
Exactly ... comparing a cage fight between two athletes to an assault on the street is just like comparing having sex with your girlfriend to a rape. The act may look the same, but there is a MASSIVE difference when both parties agree to be there and want to be there, rather than one person forcing it. His comparison to paintball was genius. Same thing- the actions appear to be the same, but are much different when you examine how they play out and why

The pacifist part of your comment is pretty dumb and unfair. This woman is just a hypocrite.
@stevenadamsapple2 жыл бұрын
Self anointed pacifists and getting high off their own farts, name a better duo. "I don't expect you to have a good heart" ironic considering how haughty and judgemental a statement like that is. Didn't it take her having a cat of her own to realize grief over the loss of a beloved pet is very real

Lack of empathy. She doesn't care to understand the sport. But cares to negatively judge what she doesn't care to understand.

Cant be a good person on the inside if you think only people that are like you, can be good...or that everything outside your experience cant be good. She clearly led a very safe, soft and sheltered life to have not idea what struggle, overcoming obstacles and competition are.
