I used to be a lazy slob. The number one thing that changed me was just to take care of myself. Flossing and brushing twice a day, dedicating time once a week to wash and trim my long beard, cleaning my room and the kitchen everyday, starting an exercise regimen, etc. I'm pretty sure for me it was the beard. I grew it out for Movemeber one year and a few months later I decided to keep it and then had to learn how to maintain it while not looking like a disgusting slob. That opened the door for self care and responsibility that I never thought about before.

Exactly. In my case, I stay very busy most days, but the main block distraction that has always ruined my goals, plans, any sort of improvement of my life or environment has always been society and so many people that slow others down and drag everyone down to their level until everyone is completely narcissistic. I have relocated and moved all over America to finally complete my life goals and improve everything in my life and around. After 46 years, I have done my best, yet start over every year with nothing and my health worsen more. Only solution I have ever concluded is Option 1: eliminate everyone in my life and complete life alone. Or..Option 2: Find a way to again to relocate out of America and secluded far away from society to build again and find my happiness in life before my life ends. My goal since I was 15, has been Option 2. Currently doing my best and barely surviving, never giving up if i am alive. And praying my time will finally come.

Here are my notes. Be aware that your retention will be much higher when you watch the whole video because spending more time on thinking about this topic will signal your brain that this is more important to you, so you will remember more. Seinfeld strategy: - Do it every day and cross the days off on your annnual calendar where you did it. - Make unhealthy habits harder to go through by setting up obstacles. Environment design: - Create or go to an environment that is conductive & supportive to you going through your habits. The 2-minute rule: - Start a habit by focusing on doing what is done in the first 2 minutes (making small steps). - Motivation comes after starting, so make the start as easy as possible because the most resistance is in the beginning. - Motivation comes from working. Precommitment: - Instant willpower boost by getting clear time frames that cannot be ignored. Implementation intention: - Write down a detailed commitment containing: habit, place, time, duration -> Meditation in front of my bed at 6am for 20min. Keystone habits: - Routine/ritual that you go through at a certain time (like every morning) which sets you up for winning the day and following days through building momentum. -> exercise, meditation, walking Habit formation ( _How to Effectively Build Habits | Ultimate Habit Guide_ is better): 1. reminder: cue/trigger that starts the behavior 2. routine: acting on habit itself 3. reward: benefits from doing habit - waking up / making coffee -> meditating -> eating an apple / enjoying the coffee - link the new behavior to an already existing one 25-5 rule: 1. write down a ranked 25 priority list of what you want to achieve today / in this month/year / in your career / ... 2. Discard no. 6-25 & focus on the top 5

I used to put my chocolates downstairs on the highest shelf, and tie the box up with its red string, to make it a lot harder to have a chocolate, and to make them last longer. End result: I spent a lot of time climbing stairs and ladders. Lesson: Will work for chocolate.

When I first joined the gym before I made it a habit I used to come home from a 12hr shift in work, eat my dinner in a room alone with no tv, get changed and head to the gym, only when i was walking in the door of the gym would I let myself think about how I didn’t want to do it but at that stage it was too late and I’d get my workout done… fast forward 15 years later and now I feel like crap when I miss a day in the gym and I crave that workout

I used the X on the calendar for every day I worked out. I came up with myself and I didn’t know anyone else was doing it. I will work out for up to 2 1/2 hours at a time minimum. At the end of three years I had 67% of the day is crossed out. When they tested me on the treadmill I had the highest cardiovascular health at the age of 50 than any male of any age tested in my county. (No matter How steep the treadmill was or what the speed, my pulse never went above 132). I would not have succeeded if it wasn’t for the calendar. If I hadn’t used the calendar the way I did, and posted it where I could see it at the end of every day., I would not have been so healthy. The habit of marking the calendar was definitely part of my success habit. There was a satisfaction in it that I can’t describe. Especially in seeing a string of X’ed out boxes. Now you can’t exercise 7 days a week for 2 1/2 hours every day of the week. You Have to take breaks in order to grow. Even the Navy SEALs take a day off now and then when they’re not in a war zone. But you can write jokes every day. I definitely recommend using the calendar. I also kept a journal of every workout I did and how much I lifted each time and then I competed with myself. At one point I had every journal that I started from the age of 19. I also kept every calendar posted up to three at a time. You can use a year at a glance calendar. I sell an 8 1/2 x 11 at a glance model.

WOW... I have a 2 Minute rule... My rule is that NO MATTER WHAT, even if its to get up to make a cup of coffee / tea, I have to do something for a minimum of 2 minutes before I can go back to the previous task of sitting at my computer rotting my brain. It works because 2 minutes is not that long and its certainly shorter than planning and doing an activity for 30 minutes... Go to the toilet.... Wash the sink or clean the bathroom mirrors... Need to get something from the garage... take things to the garage that need to be stowed in the garage... Plenty of small quick tasks that get put of that could be done to make other tasks simpler and easier than before.

This should be shared to the ppl. Who lacked doing their jobs while I was seeking assistance to build my future. My life has always been a 24/ 7 day job w/o pay, or hard work and working conditions unfavorable, but did it anyway for peanuts. Never lazy a day in my life. Actually, wanted more. Full of life, and love of nature, people. Truth does hurt, but may it teach us all to be better to others.

Daily Rituals: How Artists Work by Mason Currey is the book you mentioned and I also recommend it for anyone who does creative work. The examples are fairly short and very interesting stories about the working lives of various artists/writers/musicians/philosophers etc.
