Saw this video about an hour and a half before my Muay Thai training and we happened to be sparring at the end of class. I’m probably on my second round and boom all of a sudden this video popped into my head and I decided to try it out. Not only did I land the combo probably 70% of the time but it was quicker than any jab my sparring partner could throw any it also set up a regular jab cross since he was looking for the quick one. Thanks Shane and Vince. #underdogs

Thank you Shane. I started watching your videos 5 or 6 years ago when I was in high school. I used to get picked on and wanted to learn how to defend myself. Fast forward to now I am prepping for my first IFS amateur Muay Thai fight in October in Anaheim. Definitely going to try to use this to throw off my opponents rhythm and keep him guessing. Thanks again for all you do.

this reminded me of when i thought i invented a technique... i would throw a jab and while rechambering the jab as it reached the middle between the face and back to chamber... i would step in further and throw the jab or this double tap that you are describing... this allowed me to throw either 2 jabs of more or less the same power(because the first one is a full jab without stepping too much and the second is with a dropstep but not from full chamber) or 3 rapid fire punches that ended in one of my main shots(i didnt have much time practicing boxing, only about a month) then i realised that the combination was in many boxing fights i had watch before... so, i didnt invent anything... but at least i had learnt a good combo

Holloway - Hands down. leans his Head Forward. and stands with his Shoulders relatively squared. Carries alot of weight on his Front Leg. ;)
@PJ16G5 жыл бұрын
Nick Pierce does a good job at countering the leg kick though. Look back to the Aldo fight. When Aldo would land the rear leg kick Max would lean into it and attack with a 2 or a 1. That stopped Aldo from throwing the leg kick even though he was having success.
@214warzone5 жыл бұрын
@@PJ16G Max is very Fast and Accurate. But there is more than one type of leg kick :)
@PJ16G5 жыл бұрын
Nick Pierce Yeah, there is like you can do cut kicks, calf kicks,chopping kicks, oblique and so on. Max also constantly switches his stance with shifts and just flowing . People just haven’t been able to stick to the low kicks on him for a reason. He sits down on the leg kicks and throws a 1 or 2 as the opponent is landing with the leg kick and that shuts down that game. Unless they are willing to trade. You don’t think any coaches that have prepped their fighters for max have realized that he gets heavy on that front leg? Or do you think you’re the first to create that game plan to beat max? Creating a game plan on paper is one thing but actually executing is a whole other thing.
@mvpmvp38615 жыл бұрын
Max doesn't carry a lot of weight on his lead leg. He is good at checking and anticipating strikes. He also leans his head forward to manipulate distance. He knows where his shots are, but misleads his opponents distance. Also Max is typically square, but still has great takedown defense and is aware enough to avoid kicks. These aren't Max's weaknesses and any Featherweight who is waiting for Holloway already knows this stuff.
@PJ16G5 жыл бұрын
MVP MVP I would say his shoulders are square but not necessarily his stance. Yeah his distance control and manipulation is amazing. His stance switching also contributes to it.
@polynikes95 жыл бұрын
A good fighter would see your arms starting to extend.He would then start throwing leads to your body because your elbows aren't in and your body is open.Extremely dangerous having arms extended,because you start to expose your chin.There's easier ways of breaking the rhythm,once you've established the rhythm.Firing on the half beat is the best way,if you've established a one beat rhythm or cadence.A stop hit.Bruce Lee talks about in depth in his book"The Tao Of Jeet Kune Do".The best instructional book,on the science of fighting.What you're talking about,will only work on fighters whose boxing technique,isn't strong.Max couldn't use it against Poirier.
@polynikes95 жыл бұрын
@@robostovich The best mma fighters,at the highest level,realise how important boxing technique is.Listen to Tony Ferguson talk about his boxing.This guy uses Max Holloway as an example.But Max couldn't use this effectively against Poirier,because Poirier has extremely good boxing technique,understands the science of centre lines etc.Yes your right,for the average mma fighter,this will work.
