It's unbelievable how much Yuzuru has improved his skating over the last three years. In comparison to his record breaking free skates in Barcelona (2015) and Helsinki (2017) his free programme in Sotchi was a truly "poor" performance but still a beautiful piece of figure skating and Yuzuru a deserved gold medalist. Hope he won't retire after the olympic season.

I also feel the same! Yuzuru Hanyu skates so effortlessly. It makes skating look so pleasant and easy. The flow is very smooth, and his movement is clean and elegant. After watching Hanyu skate, I feel that I cannot watch others because the feeling is not the same

Only the landings cost Yuzu those two points but he had enough rotations for his quads, which was on his agenda. His short program already gave him a big lead and he still got over 100 points for his free skate and that made him first place. At the end, it's all about the points so yes, Yuzuru deserved his gold medal.

According to the ISU results page I just searched up (lol), Yuzuru's skate had a base value of (83.47) which is almost 4 points higher than Patrick's (79.58). Both of the final scores for their technical element increased by around 6 after the GOE was applied. Patrick's PC score (92.70) was less than 2 points more than Yuzuru's (90.98). Their total score had a gap of 0.54 with Yuzuru having 178.64 and Patrick having 178.10. Considering Yuzuru won the SP with quite a score (a world record), it makes complete sense why he won. Nobody asked for this comment but idk it just felt fun to do.

Tan lo vemos ahorita, me encantaría leer tu opinión acerca de NC un campeón prefabricado, a quien sus pcs le resultan miserables y por eso la isu se vio en la vergonzosa necesidad de anularlos para que pudiera coronarse dignamente en Beijing 2022, aunque tiene buenos saltos, pero el Figure Skating de manual le queda grande, ya que es poco menos que un hierro patinando y saltando y no es heating, es la verdad aunque a sus fans les moleste.

Just my observation, the scores are tighter and conservative. Not like the bloated scores years after. It's like the programs deserved the scores given. Not saying this because Hanyu won, but his and Chan's were really close, as should be.

Ханю больше не подвергается унижениям от ИСУ и он получает теперь то что заслуживает, он делает сольные ледовые шоу, он суперзвезда. Все соперники Ханю ушли и забыты, NC забыт, он не стал звездой, о нем нечего сказать. Патрик продает недвижимость и мечтает, чтобы Ханю дал ему работу в своем шоу. Федерация несет убытки без него. Since there is a clear parallel to the currently unfinished anime, Yuri on ice, I'm gonna assume this is on purpose (as Sochi is actually referenced quiet a bit in the anime and a few names,nationalities, and even past accomplishments match here and there.) With this information, I'm gonna guess that Japanese Yuri is gonna win Gold, followed by the Canadian JJ, then third will be Russia's Yurio (as there is no Spanish of other Japanese skaters in the anime's lineup). If i'm right the proof for my bragging is right here, if im wrong, I'm excited to see the real conclusion in two weeks. For all of you who don't know what the anime i am describing is, but you love figure skating, I suggest you check it out.

It was the Grand Prix Final 2012 in Sochi, that was referenced in YOI, not the Olympic Games. ; ) And they kinda only focused on Tatsuki Machida, who finished last there just like Yuuri did. They completely left out the other two japanese skaters, who made the podium that year (Takahashi 1st and Hanyu 2nd place) + Kozuka (4th). So if they stayed faithful to Machida's biography, Yuuri would have to finish in 4th place this time (which I doubt). I predict he'll come in 1st or 2nd, because this outcome would make the most sense in relation to YOI's story arc.
