Exactly the same thing happened to me. With my RCBS 10-10 and I checked it against a A&D FX120i, RCBS Matchmaster, Homgeek. All the electronics were the same the 10 10 was off. I think you can take the material off of the pan. Instead of the actual weight on the beam. But that pan has to stay with that beam forever. I believe when you buy them new the pan that comes with the beam is calibrated at the factory with it.
@TinManReloading Жыл бұрын
Which one of the poise was it? Did you narrow it down like I did? I think I can fix it by removing a tiny bit of material from the largest poise.

@@TinManReloadingI took my weight from the pan itself. I believe when you buy a beam brand new from the factory. The pan has to stay with the scale. They are calibrated together at the factory.

@@TinManReloadingI wrote on the bottom of all my pans how much they all weigh. Idk if the actual ink from the marker adds weight or not. But I keep certain pans with certain scales.
@MegaLostOne Жыл бұрын
@@Johnny-jr2lq The poise is reading as over (heavy) already, if he removes weight from the pan itself it will show off even more. The poise could be heavy, the notches on the poise could be cast in the wrong place or the notches in the beam could be off causing the 10 grain scale poise to not ready correctly. I'm curious if he removes the added weight he placed in the cradle and rather than leveling the scale to the earth just zero out with the adjustment what would happen but I think it's to late for that since he said he has already taken a file to it.

Check weights seam to be a good place to start from. To really know where it stands. But I think I’d send it to Dillon before I filed on the scale or its parts.

They will definitely come in handy. The file has been introduced 😂

(Just me) I would get some Check weights before I would start filing off material from the scale adjustment counter weight. (To me) that way it will be exact or as close as posable when done. - Dave

I’m gonna be picking some check weights up here soon. My biggest thing was trying to make this scale read the same as the scale that I’ve done all of my load development on. That way I know everything is zen 🧘 We’re gonna get there! Thanks, Dave.

Tinman call Dillon and they will ship you free most likely the copper color pan that comes with my Dillon scale. I have the copper one with mine. And Dillon may calibrate that for you. I know Redding calibrates there scale. My RCBS 1500 is off a tenth of a grain and I use check weights by Lyman. My Lyman weights are off a tenth of a grain. At least a couple. Enjoyed the video!
@TinManReloading Жыл бұрын
I’ll do that! I was wondering if Dillon still serviced these as they discontinued the Eliminator scale a while back. Worth a shot to call them. Thanks, AR Guns!

I wouldn't file on beam scale parts . If you're getting 2 tenths light compared to the other scales then add 2 tenths weight to the pan and adjust the scale to zero with the adjustment knob .

You would think they'd QC scales a bit better. I'm scratching my head over a similar sort of thing. I have a RCBS CM Lite and a FA Intellidropper. They weigh the same pan a couple grains off from each other, but check weights are correct. They both used to weigh the pan the same. It makes my brain hurt.

Now THAT is a weird one. Wow. I wouldn’t even know what to trust there!

@@TinManReloading It really does boggle the mind and makes it hard to trust either. Sure would be nice if they included a way to recalibrate them via software over the internet.

Huh. I’ve got check weights somewhere. I have a few of those cheap digital scales. I would’ve expected the base weight fix would’ve taken care of it?

Doesn’t your chargemaster come with a 50gn check weight for calibration? I know mines does but don’t think you have same model. Check weight is the only way to know which one is correct.
@TinManReloading Жыл бұрын
It’s 50 gram, not 50 grain. That’s 717 grains. Lol. More than the beam scale can handle. I don’t want them correct, I want them both to read the same 😂 But you’re right. Check weights is the only way to know.

DO you zero your digitals each time? It makes a difference. Also if you work your loads up it doesn't matter as long as you use the same one all the time a tenth or 2 won't matter. It's consistency that matters.
@TinManReloading Жыл бұрын
I do zero my digital scales and calibrate them each session. I just wanted the beam scale as a backup in case my Chargemaster crapped out. I’ve done all of my load development on the CM so having a beam scale that reads the same as it would be pretty great. Hence, the reason for me chasing my tail on this thing. Lol!
