It would be a huge mistake to trade Gustavsson. If Wally doesn't quite work out next year, there will be no one to lead the Wild. When Gus is on, he is as good as any goalie in the league.

yes, but you gotta figure out 2024's issue, 3 goalies for 2 NHL spots...Wallstedt is gonna get destroyed in Iowa this year, the team is young and terrible...not great for a young goalies confidence/development.... It's obvious the plan was for a Flower/Wallstedt 2024 duo, but then they couldn't move Gus this offseason (well they did, but Patrick Liane killed the trade) The best option is for Billy to chat with Flower about moving him to a contender for one last run before retirement, but it will be upto Flower to lift his NMC....

Only thing I would trade Gus for is a younger second-pair RD and a pick with the intention of buying out Spurg next year. Only would trade him if the offer is too good to pass up.

I don't think they will trade Gustavsson unless they have some other prospect in line. Fleury is leaving at the end of the season and Wallstedt doesn't have the experience. Along with the fact that goaltending for Minnesota was brutal last year, on top of all the injuries.

It better be hell year for the boys next year. Cup or bust WILL be the mentality going forward for BGs tenure moving after this season. Yuriv and Buium coming in next year snd its understandable if we dont win a chip but we have to commit. Like different from now kind of commit. The squad needs to be possessed. Easier said than done when the dust has settled because it is a long season. Mentality is what sets the great teams apart from good teams. I was one of the OG hold Gus for his contract terms supporters btw.

IF the Wild can get an extremely high value for Gus, you gotta take it. The fact they re-signed MAF and hurt Wallstedt's future is pretty upsetting. I also don't believe we should pay a ton for goal tending. Always decent goalies on the market. I think we can find one to play with Wallstedt. Also Detroit has like 5 goalies so we can always trade for one. I'm more annoyed we won't see Wallstedt and he is being treated a certain way. Rookies always get shafted in our org.

The real argument for trading Gus (assuming great return) is getting Wally planted in St Paul. Not personally arguing for it, but it’s an understandable perspective.
