John is incredible, absolutely astonishing. He has beaten everybody, even the best arm-wrestlers that are still competing today (Denis and Devon, among many others). His only loss he wasn't able to redeem was against Voevoeda. Voevoda retired and John never got his shot. It's still a good thing though, it makes him look human. He took a 6-0 loss from Larratt and returned many years later when he was 50 and beat Larratt when it counted, at the 2015 World Championships. The only person I would say that could have been the all time great over John would have been Gary Goodridge. Even John said that Gary was stronger. Gary left the sport though to pursue UFC and martial arts. Watch Gary's highlight videos, the guy had a hydraulic arm and slammed giants at will. John Breznk, THE GOAT.
@Zenzuu4 жыл бұрын
@The Failed Pick Up Artist mate John was injured in 2008. Which was why Devon bested him. Even Devon himself admitted this in interviews. When it comes to stats John has more wins over Devon. Sure John lost in 2008, but Devon lost against John in 2004, 2006, and 2015.

@TheKessi10005 жыл бұрын
His shoulders are shot now. Even when he beat Larratt in 2015 for the World Title they were giving him some trouble (said it himself). He retired at the perfect time with the perfect win, against the best opponent. He is without question, solidified as the GOAT. I wouldn't want to see him compete now when he would only be 50% of what he used to be. He just needs to be the main ambassador/spokesman of the sport now and help it keep on growing.

Saw this in reddit: John grew up armwrestling. His father was an armwrestler amd he was able to pull him, his brother, his father's friends, etc. Starting to grow the right tissues at that age sets you up well for a long strong armwrestling career. John had perhaps the best cupping strength of all time. He could get his wrist bent on just about anybody. He also had possibly the strongest tendons and ligaments in his elbow; this is related to his insertion points and the years he spent armwrestling as a young man. Having those sorts of stresses during puberty (as opposed to later) have a major effect on your adult development. There also is something to say about his arm break at 13/14. His tendon pulled a chunk of bone off; that healing up while he was still growing may have made that area extremely thick and strong. John's thickness isn't obvious if you're not looking for it (he just looks like some guy) but looking close at his forearm and wrist you see how thick the tendons are. You see how blocky he is around his elbow. You see that, while his muscles aren't huge, he just looks so solid which is what counts. His life circumstances (including his genetics) set him up to be tremendously statically strong at a young age. Then when you factor in the speed that comes with youth and the years of experience he had, it's not hard to imagine how he was the best then. Beyond that, his technique and knowledge of the sport allowed him to use his strength for every situation. His elbow and forearm connective tissue made his back pressure and side pressure tremendous. Even if he somehow lost his wrist he could dead-wrist press a guy all the way from his own pad across the table. When he could get his wrist bent and his pronator locked, his static strength there made it impossible to open him up or escape. He honestly could never curl that much or do crazy two-finger pullups or anything but with his arm bent he was as atrong as a man could get. He's the shining example of how armwrestling isn't about giant strong muscles, it's about connective tissue and bone integrity and John had that in droves.
