Lots of skaters ride trucks bigger than their board Little less common with smaller boards though

It's not even noticable. Before there were 8.25 trucks a lot of people rode 8.5 trucks on 8.25 boards. It still works

When getting trucks, usually you want to stay within a quarter of an inch, bigger or smaller; he’s is just within that. What also makes the difference is the wheel type you ride, because the truck is measured by the axel; So 8” deck and 147s match perfect, but classic wheels don’t cover the nuts, meaning the wheels are more in, by skating 148s, the wheels are closer to matching the edge of the deck, while the nuts stick out just a bit more.
