Tried that dating website. Unfortunately there is no way to really use it without providing them with too much personal information. I tried to upgrade and they will only let me do so if I call them. That establishes a business relationship AND allows them to text at will, or to sell my number. I don't know if they are dishonest or poor business people. I do not recommend it.

Unlike some of the other comments, I found this site to be the best site, by far...at least for a foreigner who is in their home country and hoping to make a connection with a Filipina. Yes, we're skeptical by nature...especially if, I'm guessing, a fair amount of fellas on here are GenX. But it is a legit site. It's a little pricey, but the whole endeavor is going to be pricey. If you want to find a good, traditional woman...the Philippines are one of the surest ways to find one...and it's going to cost a fair amount to (potentially) get them to your country. So you may as well start off with a trust-worthy jumping off point. I've not experienced any harassment or sales calls from anyone they might be affiliated with. They do make a few calls to try to get you interested in using their service...but it's definitely not harassing in nature. And if you tell them not to call, they won't.

I just returned to the states from my second visit to the Philippines this year. This time I was there for 30 days with my filipina fiancee'. I rented a car and drove around Negros Occidental in the Bacolod area. It was definitely a different driving experience, but I didn't have any issues. I just used the analogy of "When in Rome, do as the Romans do". I just matched how everyone else was driving and didn't have any issues. It is good to be a patient person though, and laugh at the way others cut you off, etc. There was only one dish my fiancee made that I did not care for, it wasn't so much the whole dish it was one item that was in it, Laswa. I would not try Balut, or Durian. Kudos to you Gary for trying a while back!

Ah yes the traffic. I have been to Bacolod and rented a car. Yes you just get used to it. And it’s funny driving to the mountains. You never go over 45 miles an hour maybe. Rice in the road sugarcane trucks parked in the right lane, etc.. I did enjoy the roadside fruit stands on the way , all fun.

I've explained the food concerns to my wife. Please do not ever take it to heart. You have to understand we're westerners. Example I'm at the apartment in US working in the States. I've had for dinner, Indian, Mexican, American, Soul food, filet mignon and lobster & about to get or make Mediterranean food. A lot of us did not grow up or go into our adult life eating only one type of food. And we can pretty much make any recipe you can think of in the States. So eating only Filipino food is taxing, we need variety. The other recipes push my wife outside her comfort zone. To help with this I've learned when I need something other than Filipino food. I do the cooking 😂

Let's be honest; there's a reason you don't see Philippine restaurants everywhere. There are VERY few Philippine dishes I like.
@ArtaherDuron3 ай бұрын
@@keastland Well actually no, Theres a reason you don't see Filipino restaurants everywhere and that's cause you aren't looking for them. There's a bunch in Cali, NY, TX, AZ just to name a few. In fact most major cities have them. Be aware out of the top 10 languages spoken in US. Tagalog is normally rank 4-5. But to the point without being disrespectful. In my life 43 years on this planet, when asked in the States - What's y'all wanna eat with coworkers, friends, or family. I've never heard anyone say let's get Filipino. Out of the world there isn't a Filipino chef rank in the top 20 & well TBH no one is actually coming to Philippines for the culinary experience. The food is good & tasty but it's just not the food you travel across the world to partake in like you would with Mexico, French, Thailand, Japan, etc.

Here is your gold mine: create a cookbook detailing creating food from ingredients in the Philippines that appeal to foreigners
@ABetterLifePH3 ай бұрын
@@Groqx I'd say that the major issue is the quality. If I put something in my mouth, while eating, I want it to be 100% food. No bone, no cartilage, no pure pieces of fat, no skin, no small rocks (etc). The taste is usually ok, but obviously not up to Thai standards. Maybe use more/different spices than soy sauce, vinegar, chili, salt and...sugar (sugar is imo for deserts). I've had some great dishes in the Philippines, but in general Filipino food is only appreciated by Filipinos (like British food/the British).

Hey guys! Here are some coping tips I have learned. I knew one lady who loved Durian and ube. She was always telling me every time she had one, and every time she wanted one bc she KNEW, I might find them objectionable. She remains a friend though we realized we were not meant for each other. My fiancee OTH has other food habits. Just one she truly enjoys turns my stomach, balut. I can sort of deal with the whole uncleaned shrimp going into my soup, head, legs, whiskers, "vein" and all. I can sort of deal with trying her fish head soup too. The different veggies? No problem! We have discussed it and when together, we will lean more towards feeding fish heads, fish tails & shrimp scraps to the creatures God designed to eat them, cats & dogs. She insists I MUST try the balut and also insists I MUST kiss her after she eats whole baby birds in their shells. BC I love her, I will try my best to psyche myself up for it just once. For my part, I am a real cook and have been since age 12, growing my skills over time. I cook 100s of dishes today from over a dozen culinary backgrounds. My Hindi & Chinese cuisine skills lag behind a bit, but I have mastered 2 kinds of lumpia, chicken adobo & pork carnitas in addition to some good stir-fry's. To help her understand my food norms, I show her (we are still LDR for a few more months) every unique dish I make & sometimes my repeat dishes + I tell her my meal plans and actions for the week. She appreciates my updates bc it helps her understand my life without her. When she cooks new things, she send me pics. Sometimes we video chat while one or the other of us makes dinner. It helps us feel more close and comfortable to reduce the impact of minor differences that could affect us all at once. SHARING our different norms lessens the impact of differing cultures. The changes are more for her than for me bc Americans are already a melting pot of over 100 cultures. Our great land is even blessed with 6 million Filipinos! This goes for my kids also. They are now in love with some of the famous Filipino dishes and look forward to a couple days of lumpia every time I bake a ham. It is important IMO, to share cultures incrementally to lessen culture shock on each person. If anybody needs good, well-tested, Filipino recipes, drop a throwaway email here with a kind request and I will freely share.

How do Filipino men act in these situations compared to foreigners?
@christopherwatkins97292 ай бұрын
Hi Folks... Any problems driving and other drivers ???? Just keep in mind, that it is NOT personal... The other driver does not know you and you don't know them... If they exhibit bad driving habits (?) it is their problem to live with... Me (?) I just let them go... The idea of driving anywhere is to start the journey... and arrive safely, without incidents... Foods ???? when my fiancé cooks Filipino foods, if I like (?) then I eat... and if not (?) then I cook for either myself or both of us... Only 'food' I refuse to eat are those tiny little fishes... as no guarantee where they are caught... but 'she' has no health problems eating them ! Another important difference between Filipino foods and Western style foods are the price differences... and that could feature in the shopping habits of Filipino peoples... You have it sooooooo easy Gary... Leah sounds like a "Saint"... My Fiancé of eleven years is the most independent woman in all the Philippines and is quick to agree with any plans or decisions we make... and even quicker to brake them ! Ha Ha... but I have learnt... "Mama" is almost always 'right'... Private School Fees (?) 70,000 Php annually... Best "Mum" in the world too*... Hurry up and get your health back Gary... Can you take any vitamins & mineral supplements ? I take one spoonful of 'NZ' COMPLAN daily (26 vitamins & minerals) or the 'Aussie' SUSTEGEN has 28 'same' ???? Am 77 years age... still doing my push-ups / sit-ups... and... Seems to work for me... God's Blessings...

Not always old. There's lots of young couples in the US. We have two marriages in my family and its no gap, married right out of college in our twenties (met in the US). I'm old now after 31 years of marriage. I also know several marriages where the guy is the Filipino also. So, you might think its a bad thing until you meet someone and then its the best thing that every happened to you. That scenario is about 20% of Fil/Am marriages so its not impossible. Personally, I don't see a problem with a 50 year old guy with a 35 year old woman if that works for them. I don't like the extreme case for a bunch of reasons. That said, it should not matter that someone is European as long as they are a great guy that appreciates the culture. If it was 100,000 marriages a year, I would feel for ya. But its about 12k per year and frankly there's far more gays that women lost to foreign men. So, excess women.
