Thank you so much, I have a 2014 Jetta and as much as I work on my own cars this vehicle is completely foreign to me and I run into a lot of problems I can’t and don’t have time to get too. Everytime I get gas it shuts off and has a hard time starting or sometime wont even start at all. Didn’t realize how easy this actually was and hoping this will fix the issue, I’d hate to get rid of my Jetta girl I’ve had her for a long time (7 years), thank you😁

Rainman Ray just had one of these recently. Previous shops had fired the parts cannon replacing almost the entire vapor system, including a new gas tank. Ray found the "new" Dorman purge valve wasn't closing, got another new one that tested fine and problem solved. "Just because it's new doesn't mean it's good."

Just cancelled my appointment at the shop lol, i have a P0455 (evap large leak) and P0171 (bank 1 too lean) code. I have actually watched another video, where i used MAP sensor cleaner to clean out my purge valve, and the code went away for a bit and came back along with the P0171 code. I have changed my fuel filter thinking that is whats causing the P0171 code, but this video has made it pretty clear that I just have a bad purge valve because I am only having issues where the car wont start properly after filling up gas, just ordered myself another purge valve for 20 bucks. Will update once i have it installed. Update: Replacing the EVAP purge valve resolved the P0455 code, and the car no longer has issues with start ups after filling up the gas tank! P0171 code remained but that is due to a vacuum leak and possibly dirty fuel injectors.

Hi Rich , had a fella tell me to fill up with nozzle on its lowest setting . To keep the vapor from going into your tank. Set it to the lowest setting will help . Especially during the summer months. And always try to fill up in the mornings . Hope this helps .👍🇺🇸🚗

Brings me back to childhood memories in early 80's watching my father press on the gas pedal a thousand times in a row on his 1972 Chrysler when on a super hot summers day - the carberator would lock up because of vapor lock. Yea, at age 7 y/o my job was to hop out of the back seat- open the hood and remove the top part of the air cleaner and stick a pen down the carberator to keep butterfly flap open until it started. Smh knowing that taking the bus or walking to school was probably easier..

Excellent video. I have a 2007 Jetta with 218,000 miles. Runs good. Maybe I should change this for preventative maintenance, lol. Only problem is drivers door switch won’t lock drivers door. Door ajar light stays on and bell chimes and dome lights stay on while driving. Was told wiring harness was too short and a wire is losing connection. Changed switches, but didn’t work. One day I’ll have to investigate, lol.

Do SAE 30 and 10W30 have the same viscosity at 100C? I would assume an engine running SAE 30 in the desert would not be damaged by the oil being too think during startup because it's always hot. You can get SAE 30 oil that is made for tractors that apparently has more additives, that's why I'm asking.

Thanks, I haven’t gotten this condition yet, but I probably will. Description should say P2096 not P0296. How sensitive is the evap canister to overfilling the gas tank? I have been using gas cans to drive one vehicle to the gas station. I take home an additional 20 gallons to fill my wife and sons’ cars. A couple of times, I couldn’t hear the gas filling and accidentally over filled the tank.

P0496 is the lead detection tank full of carbon particles and that can also clog the valve and throw P0456.
@FordBossMe Жыл бұрын
I mean I can see how that would be an issue I don't know why you're calling it that name it's actually the evaporative emission canister or the charcoal canister I've never heard it called what you're calling it maybe you can educate me on why you're calling it that maybe it's called something else where you're from but that's not the name that I've ever used for it and most of the time it's not because that condescent is coming apart and ending up in the valve so I'm not sure where you found that but that's not actually my experience so I'm going to have to say it's false on my end
@cassoidGaming Жыл бұрын
@@FordBossMe I confused my words. The leak detection pump also called the DMTL in the Volkswagen world is the pump that is build in to the charcoal canister or evap canister. The canister when purchased at the dealership it comes as complete kit. The canister and the pump. You are correct on your diagnosis but just if u do ever see charcoal particles it’s best to flush the old evap lines and replace the canister and pump with dmtl or LDP. And valve. There’s a common TSB For this issue P0456 in VW tsbs but u are correct fordboss. Just wanted to share some VW info when I worked at the VW delearship. Jetta / Atlas, Taos are the main culprits. On the early 18-19 Atlas be careful cause the P0456 code can also triggers due to bad ecm software and was later solved with an ecm update and purge valve replacement. The 2.5 is. Good engine bud also be careful with other issues like the oil leak from the vacum pump and the cheat code is to dissemble the pump then reinstall to beat the 8.0 transmission removal time. Keep up to good work

I didn't hear it mentioned but these valve can fail prematurely due to people TOPPING off the tank. By topping off you're over filling and it will cause raw fuel be introduced into the evap system. DON'T TOP OFF!
@FordBossMe Жыл бұрын
I mentioned this stuff all the time I tell people all the time topping the fuel tank off constantly trying to reach this magical number when the vehicle pops at the pump and people keep filling it up it does this type of damage I don't know what else to do I've said it before I've said it many times
