Annihilation was a great movie. And one of the best things about it is because the main characters don't have to be women. They have personalities that aren't based on their being female. They're just people with problems. And that's the good thing because often times in movies nowadays you see women flaunting their femininity and that's why they're strong. They're female, and that's pretty much their personality.

Just watched Annihilation and I didn't like it. I was stuck trying to figure out if it was a horror movie or alien movie, it felt like they would introduce one of those aspects and then have nothing to explain wtf just happened. At the beginning I was wondering why they would send in random people with little useful equipment, skills, or purpose. Then by the end I was wondering why events were even happening in the first place. After watching the explanation by the channel you mentioned it made a little more sense, but I certainly didn't pick up on those nuances on my own... Some good visuals though, story line was next to impossible to make sense of.
