@Kaos Nova actually he does electromagnetism and magnetism are not the same thing. Magnetism is a subset if electromagnetism along with electrostatic. Magneto's power over magnetism allows him to access the emission spectrum but his main dominant power isn't me manipulation but magnetism. Hence why his most powerful feats all involve him sojng something with metal.

The term "full metal jacket" refers to the total covering of the lead core by a copper jacket. No gun fires a steel cased round. It would damage the steel of the barrels rifling. The steel cased ammo that is discussed is the cartridge of the ammunition not the projectile. There is a thing called steel core ammunition. This has a steel penetrator in the core of the round instead of the lead core that most bullets have. The nickle cased rounds are also just the jacket of the cartridge, not the bullet itself.

Your theory is wrong. At levels of magnetism that high, non-ferrous molecules would align and could be manipulated magnetically. Look up the floating or levitating frog. If he were as you described, his power would be indistinguishable from telekinesis. Instead, let's look at a less rational idea to help find truth. Proposal: Magneto is a run-of-the-mill telepath. With his powers, he can only "see" specific metals - possibly those ferrous metals. That makes his limitation about targeting. Because telepathy is metaphorically based in one's ability to organize, the inability to target is the inability to affect.

For me, Earth-616 Magneto IS Magneto. We have to distinguish the canon version of the character with the movie version. Yes you are right. All known matter in the Universe is diamagnetic, especially water. Even focusing a magnetic field of 10 million tesla (10% of his video-stated energy output) into a group of human beings would not only liquefy their organs and shatter their bones, but their very DNA would be irreparrably damaged as magnetic fields of cosmic strength make biological processes impossible to occur. Scientists exposed human red blood cells to a magnetic field of 5 mT (millitesla) and found that within 10 minutes, they had elongated. Imagine the damage wrought by a field billions of times that. Cheers.

A powerful enough magnet can interact with almost anything. If he has the ability to pick up the Golden Gate Bridge he would have the ability to stop bullets even if they were lead. Also everyone would be dead in the surrounding area once he started picking up the bridge. Humans have already built a magnet so powerful it can rip fillings out of teeth and looking at it can cause blindness and brain damage and its still a small fraction of his power.
@ColinRichardson4 жыл бұрын
That is if you consider him as a single omni directional magnet.. @milkman44072 жыл бұрын
Yeah
@jacobshin42792 жыл бұрын
You're right. All materials are diamagnetic. And some materials are even paramagnetic. So if we apply "real world physics" and assume Magneto can generate ~100 Teslas, then Magneto SHOULD be able to control water, grass, sand, copper, plastic, ceramics, and basically any material that exists. This would make him too OP, so the movie makers toned his powers down to only include ferromagnets (even though this isn't how magnetic fields work in the real world). Interestingly, I believe the comics, Magneto is actually able to do more than ferromagnetism, making his powers more scientifically accurate than the movie version (imo). Basically we're all overthinking magneto's powers too much.

The bullets from the kitchen scenes are special bullets made to be used against Magneto, not normal ones. Also, after this last movie where he has his power enhanced by Apocalypse I think you will have to reconsider the argument. His power is over magnetism, the ferromagnetism is just easier for him to do (but not the only one he can control). And you don’t need to go this far to find a way to kill Magneto, you just need a stick, a rock or a really good fist. No secrets there.

That is actually the point, it is only film Magneto. Comic Magneto has plenty of absurd feats I'm sure. Interestingly, however, one of the one-shot comics I read when I was younger was about Magneto, or rather a guy trying to assassinate Magneto to avenge his brother, killed by Magneto. And it was literally just a stealth suit and specialized sniper rifle which would have been 100% successful had the assassin's ever-shifting backstory not resulted in him failing to take the shot. Despite this, in teh comics - Magneto CAN stop bullets... Which defies the canon... Worth pointing out as well that according to the Fact Files - The power of Magneto's Magnetic field cannot be measured accurately and he does appear to be able to manipulate other non-ferrous metals, though these are not specified - So tends to vary depending on the writer in the comics. What's even more awesome is that magneto actually creates 2 fields in opposition. That's that only way he can keep an object in a fixed position. So what ever he use to lift the bridge he also needs the same to fix its position. All magnets causes instantaneous acceleration to or from itself. So given the size of objects he levitates, magneto is not the one doing the work. He's using the earth's core and the objects own field.

As for the quick silver and neck shot seen, those bullets are 100% Plastic! you failed epicly on this one mattpat, good try though.

+PizzaCat what are the movies based off of again... oh that's right the comic books. it's a good theory but it was disproved by a simple Google search, try it Google what are Magneto's powers or here I did it for you Powers and abilities. Magneto is a mutant with the power to manipulate magnetic fields to achieve a wide range of effects. The primary application of his power is control over magnetism and the manipulation of ferrous and NONFERROUS metal.
@LeifurEriksson6 жыл бұрын
9:10 dude, look up the difference between the bullet and the cartridge. also magneto could theoretically manipulate other metals than just ferromagnetic ones by creating changing magnetic fields that induce eddy-currents in the metal which creates magnetic characteristics ... that would also be possible in non-metal materials that are electrically conducting (therefore copper jackets would be VERY susceptible to eddy-currents). Still great video, keep it up! (edit: also, the six types of magnetism apply to materials, not to magnetic fields which are the things that Magneto directly controls, so he crates fields that affect different materials differently but he is not the master of (just) ferromagnetism)

Dude magneto specifically admitted that he curved a bullet in x-men: days of future past. I quote "you killed the president" Charles said "I didn't kill him" magneto replied "oh really, then what are the odds of a bullet curving in mid-air" Charles asked magneto "I was trying to save him" magneto stated. This evidence is also supported when magneto tried to shoot mystique with a pistol in the white house but mystique managed to jump out from a window. We may assume that a bullet always travels straight right? Well how and why did the bullet that came from magneto's gun curve downwards and hit mystique in her thigh? BTW I luv ur vids
