It's established that Godzilla is definitively the top Alpha of the Titans now; not even the other powerful Titans _dared_ to challenge him after he defeated Ghidorah. In the same way that irl animals tend to stay away from territories that smell like top predators, the giant hole wouldn't be an issue since no other Hollow Earth monsters would dare trespass an area like that which has Godzilla's presence literally blasted all over it. All the government really has to do is just build some small barrier around it (but even then it'd be really difficult for anyone to just fall in since the hole is so huge and obvious).

This has probably been mentioned a lot by now, but interestingly the novelization of this movie includes implications that Ren's mind is taken over/eaten by Ghidorah's consciousness, and when Madison goes to the room where Ghidorah's skull was, Ren's body is nowhere to be found.

It's because in most 'thing vs thing' movies, the things are either both good or both evil. The idea of 'which side will you pick' is extremely marketable (just look at the team kong / team zilla memes), so they want people to be able to pick a side, but they don't want anybody to feel disappointed or like they picked the wrong side. So they always introduce a third party that's extremely evil, which lets the movie have its cake and eat it too.

Honestly, that makes sense to me. They probably did want to play it safe with the future of the franchise uncertain. But while they aren't likely to re-add scenes and release a director's cut, I do agree they might just work some of this untold stuff into the next movie. Presuming there is one of course.

I mean Ghidorah's technically an Alien invader. He's less so a true titan and more so an invasive species. There was even a plot point in king of the monsters that Ghidorah was using the titans to terraform the planet. If they add a Ghidora-possessed Ren it'd probably be more so to explain Ghidorah's alien motives then to give a humanization to the monsters. My thoughts anyway.

I just watched this, but I took the mecha’s sentience less in terms of being possessed, and more of the Titans’ original power source giving life consciousness to mechagodzilla. The telepathic communication likely was more of just a bridge to allow a human to control the mech.

Maybe not 5 hours but 3 hours maybe almost 4 hours might work without feeling bloated and add in more stuff, especially if it means they add a fight at the beginning making a connection with the previous movie and what has happened between then, explaining how godilla fought all the monsters and they either submitted or were destroyed, showing a 30 sec montage maybe and then a fight between godzilla and angurius which will also give us more godzilla as he wasn't in the movie that much plus angurius was in the original godzilla vs mechagodzilla film and was the first monster godzilla fought, it would work in the movie and I think it would add a little to the move as well as being fan service

I don't think that is a financially wise decision. Movies cost millions to make. This would effectively double the cost and dubble the loses if it goes bad. Even if the movie does well they would just barely break even considering most people only want to watch a movie once on a Friday night to relax and dont really care wether or not the lore was done properly.
