Because you could get behind the chemistry of Sonic and Tom. Because Jim Carrey was a riot as Eggman. Because the writing for Knuckles and Tails (and now Shadow) are on POINT. Because they listened to the fans. They STILL looked at all that success and went "nah". "WE know how to make a Minecraft movie". And THIS is what we got. i swear, whenever they adapt a book or game to movie, it seems that whoever is the overall director always either A) believes they can rewrite it better and ignored most of everything that the fans actually love, just including a few 'iconic cameos and memes' to tie it to the original, or B) they actively dislike the original or the fans of hte original, and want to instead use it as a vehicle for whatever their 'message about society' is. and i expect this atrocity to be the same, lots of 'top 10 funniest minecraft moments' sprinkled around for slapstick humor, and a story and plot mostly devoid of anything resembling what people love about minecraft. and since the trailer clearly shows the main people arriving through a portal, i'm betting the end of the movie is going to be them all leaving permanently, with the message being 'don't play video games, return to the real world'. in that respect, i'm so dang tired of interesting issekai concepts, where the final message is always 'don't take your normal life for granted', why can't we ever get ones where people are happy to explore and live in some new fantasy world?

What had immediately stood out to me is that, in this movie, Steve looks like a regular person as well, not blocky, meaning he's not from this _Minecraft_ world. I believe he's a person from the real world who got trapped in this dimension, once looking more like a guy that resembled his in-game appearance but becoming overweight and dishevelled after living in this dimension for so long, and he'll be trying to escape back to the real world along with the other main characters.

I think what some people are forgetting to mention, in Minecraft story mode (can’t remember exactly where in the game it happens) but there’s a large structure filled with empty portals that the main cast go through (for instance going into a world where they meet multiple different og mcyters) and what stood out to me is that the portals are also different colors, such as blue

Minecraft as a game just screams trilogy, so I’m not a fan of Piglins popping up here. 1. Overworld 2. Nether 3. End Some kind of Endrman is obviously the perfect overarching enemy, and the Piglins are the perfect example of a sequel villain that can just appear out of nowhere without having much impact on the Movie 1 plot.

A little thing to add to the theory. (BTW, Tom's rage in this video was one of the funniest things i've seen on this channel) We HAVE actually seen a blue portal in the Minecraft games. In the opening of Minecraft Legends, our player is casually mining in a cave until we are interupted and pulled into a BLUE PORTAL made by the Hosts (Foresight, Action and Knowledge) to bring us to the Minecraft Legends world. Also, in the game itself, we can teleport from village to village and when we do, the character is surrounded by a blue aura before being teleported. If the hosts are able to summon a blue portal to gather anyone from across time and space itself, it could be possible that the blue portal we saw in the teaser was created by the hosts or perhaps whoever is speaking in the blue text we see at the end poem of vanilla Minecraft, to gather people from the real world (In this case, the main characters we see in the teaser) and into the Minecraft world to defeat the Seer, who we have yet to see defeated. Also, Steve in the teaser was not blocky like all the animals and mobs. This could mean that Steve used to be part of the real world, before being taken to the Minecraft world by the hosts, just like in Minecraft legends. (Good, because imagine a realistic human made of nothing but blocks). Lastly, the blue cube we saw in the teaser reminds me of the blue core inside a beacon. And we DID see a beacon get corrupted by the Orb of Dominance in Minecraft Legends. This is all just speculation and might just be me overthinking this whole thing. But its still just a Theory, a ga- erm... a fil- hmmm, a Minecraft Theory! Also, I think its called ”A Minecraft Movie” because there are countless other Minecraft movies/series on youtube.

How is nobody seeing that this is exactly Minecraft legends’s plot, that portal is from Minecraft legends, piglins invading is from Minecraft legends what Jason mamoa crafted is in Minecraft legends. I think the plot is Steve was sucked in a long time ago and now In the present this group got sucked into the game( that is why they are not animated) they find Steve who explains how he got sucked in too and that the piglins are raring the land and then they win or smth and get back home. Very similar to jumanji. (Minecraft legends is one of the Minecraft games if anyone is wondering)

I still don't understand why they made the piglins the villains of this movie. Slaying the Ender Dragon is the single most widespread tradition in the Minecraft community, ever. As such, find it very peculiar that the writers wouldn‘t follow tradition here. They had a decade to come up with a story, why did they settle for something less than the main story of Minecraft?

My theory on the movie plot... The movie starts with 4 people in a minecraft server just playing the game. Then they find an item (the blue cubes) they haven't seen before and make a portal with it. When they go into the portal they come back out into the minecraft overworld. Then they realise it's actually them in their own bodies. The confusion and "Steve" telling them how the game works is because they need to be reminded that even tho they are no longer behind the screen, the same rules of minecraft and creativity apply. It's probably gonna be a pep talk moment. Another theory I'm proposing is that he isn't actually Steve. He's either gonna be the big bad pretending, so they can build the portal for him so he can use it for whatever idk. Or he is another player that got stuck and is pretending to be Steve so they can help him get home. Or a delusional thing. One of these three.

I think that maybe, Momoa's character crafting those strange double bucket chained-thing can be explained like this: Steve is teaching them how to use a crafting table, and Momoa's character says something like "move away, I'll show you how to do it." and he does everything wrong crafting a pointless item that only serves as a comic moment where Steve makes fun of it, and then he teches them how to properly craft a real item. That would make sense to me and makes the scene less horrible, but it's still strange to use it for the first teaser.
