The whole “strange is super dangerous” sub plot that had the illuminati was cool. Then they were dispatched by some shitty evil dead cgi. If the movie was longer and focused on one thing like a dynamic relationship between strange and himself, with Chavez; then it would be good. But I think it was a big missed opportunity

I get the idea of not wanting to make Wanda disliked as a female character, but everything I have seen people say about Wanda is that they are very excited to make her a villain. Having women in respected roles does mean they can’t be villains, it just means they also deserve to be well written and thought out. I for one would love to see Wanda become a villain or antihero. Her character is classical tragic and that’s not a bad thing to explore.

I don't want Wands to be a villain not because of feminism, because it takes away from ALL the character development from her show. if she becomes a villain, it shows that she can never move on and that the events of WV are pointless. I think it's hella more strong to have Wanda come out from the side of villainy into heroism once again, showing everyone that she will not let her grief control her. That's far more powerful.

Something to keep in mind. Agatha said she’s stronger than the Sorcerer Supreme. Wong is currently the Sorcerer Supreme so they wrote themselves a little loophole. How do we know for sure that the "evil" Dr. Strange is actually a villainous doppleganger. The trailer doesn't necessarily imply he has any sinister agenda. Just because he's got a maniacal smile, doesn't exactly mean he's an antagonist. The only justification would be the whole Sm Raimi having made a bad guy clone of Ash in the Evil Dead series. Otherwise it could just be Strange Supreme from the What If series who is more experienced and knowledgeable about the multiverse making him an invaluable ally to the main live action Dr. Strange.

I think it’s a possibility, especially if they don’t want to have a montage of Strange being Wanda’s superior in terms of magic to explain it to her, to get her to that point. That “dark” Wanda from the trailer seems far more comfortable with her powers than Wanda is at the end of WandaVision, after all.

@@shaks828 Honestly, they kinda wrote themselves into a corner with that bit, given that she IS in What If? (the Zombies episode), so there's definitely absolutely 100% more than one Wanda. Maybe her specific designation as "the Scarlet Witch" is what's unique? Sort of like in Spider-Verse (the comic not the movie) there are certain unique totems that join with different spider-people throughout the universe, most famous one being The Other. There's only one The Other in the multiverse, but it jumps from host to host -- at one point 616 Peter was The Other, then Kaine became The Other, etc. But 616 Peter and Kaine still exist even when not possessed by The Other, and they have countless variants who are not The Other. If there's an evil Wanda variant (I kinda like this idea), then she could for instance want to become the Scarlet Witch herself and replace our Wanda. It's kinda a "have your cake and eat it too" -- we get the evil Wanda who fulfills Agatha's prophecy, but OUR Wanda still says clean and can continue to appear as a hero.

Let me just remind everyone of an integral part: Multiverse of Madness was supposed to happen BEFORE no way home and was RE WRITTEN because of all the delays in production. So this means that anything can happen. Wanda may have caused the Multiverse of Madness when it was set before NWH but now it is clearly caused by Dr Strange and Peter. So now, we don't know if Wanda would still be the villain or an ally. The Rewrite caused this.

Ya I feel like Marvel in many ways has toyed with the idea that good or bad is a perspective and can be circumstancial. Age of Ultron and Civil War are a great example where people in the world literally see the Avengers as destructive super villains. It's like, ya they're heroes....for ultimately saving the world. So we may think they're good. But anyone who gets the negative impact or who has no idea what is actually going on in the grand scheme of things (aka non-super beings) can easily see their actions as bad.

I really hope Wanda is the villain. I think it’s an interesting development of her character, to see her go from this hero, to a person who lost everything, to someone willing to do anything to get it all back. Part of the hate Carol got was because her movie was about confronting misogyny though. I don’t understand why people were expecting a traumatized, hardened war vet to be a wisecracker. Back from the movie. SPOILER below. But quick thoughts. Good movie, not great. The trippy visuals was the best thing. More so than many other movies you kind of felt that it was rewritten and had major reshoots, and I'm not sure it made the movie better. Yeah, quite a few things in the theory was pretty spot on. * Illuminati makes an appearance. * Cameos (well one big one, the one we knew from the trailer) * Introduction of new characters (Reed Richards got a big "WOOOOOO" in the theatre) * Variants from What If (Captain Carter, and Strange Supreme) * Dr strange protecting America Chavez and running through portals from the big bad. * Wanda wanting America Chavez power to search for her kids and beeing the villain * Wanda beeing ridiculously OP and more powerful than the sorcerer supreme. * Wanda not entirely to blame since she was corrupted by dark magic and redemes herself in the end. I do think there might have been a lot more cameos before the reshoots, and the Iliuminati plotline was a bit off and very rushed and had zero consequence other than show that MCU have Fantastic Four and X-men, just not in the main universe (yet).

It would be neat to have Wanda become an anti-hero, I'm not sure if she would be a total villian since she just wants to have her family... not really wishing harm to anyone in particular. Also, the writers do have a loophole for a battle between Wanda and Strange. You would think Wanda will win since "shes more powerful than the sorcerer supreme", but Dr. Strange isn't the sorcerer supreme anymore, Wang is. So Strange might be skilled enough to neutralize Wanda, who knows... I'm on team Strange, he's one of the heroes I really like as characters alongside Spiderman and Hawkeye :)

Something worth noting is that Dr Strange *isn’t* the Sorcerer Supreme; Wong is. This doesn’t necessarily mean that Strange and Wanda won’t face off against each other. In fact, it could help explain the decision to have Wong take on the title on NWH: The writers wanted to retroactively refute the claim Agatha made in Wandavision, so that the victor of any fight between Wanda and Strange isn’t a foregone conclusion.

"8:18" That's pretty dumb that they've written out Dr.strange at the end of wandadivision just because they assumed it would take away from Wandas strong character, even though Wanda is already a strong character to begin with, the fact that they thought it would be taking away from her is more telling on their part on developing her as a character. But I don't know, it just doesn't seem like it needed to be taken away from, it could have just been a tiny teaser, all the focus would still be on Wanda.

I would have LOVED to see Dr Strange in Wandavison, but as it was written 1000% keeping Strange out was the right decision. The finale sets up these two powerful women, one ancient, the other young and just coming into her power. This was Wanda's story. She needed to be the one to end it. Having Dr Strange come in and basically mansplain magic to these two incredibly powerful women would have just been a really bad look. Like yeah, let's let the big strong man come and calm these hysterical women down and show them how magic really works. The finale was great the way it was. Strange would have under cut her.

A points to note here: 1) “Stronger than the Sorcerer Supreme” means she would be stronger than Wong since at that point he is the Sorcerer Supreme because Strange was blipped, so it’s not televising a clash between Wanda and Strange 2) the evil Strange could be a variant of Strange Supreme so that he wasn’t redeemed 3) Strange won’t remember Peter because the spell made EVERYONE other than Peter in the universe forget who Peter was, so if he was wanting to help a kid in over their head about the multiverse it would be subconscious unless Peter somehow returns to Strange’s memory after the events of NWH

I think you’re forgetting a very common movie trope: if the villain says something, they’re wrong. So far, in the MCU, the people who have called Wanda a villain and tried to subdue her have been Ross, Hayward and Agatha, while those who have believed in Wanda have been Hawkeye, Cap America and Monica Rambeau. Having her become a villain now or ever is saying “Guess we misjudged those guys, they were the real heroes.”. For that reason alone I believe Wanda will never again be a villain. My guess is that she will begin helping Dr Strange, then see an opening to grab her kids out of that universe in which they were calling her from, Dr Strange will oppose and she will abandon him to persue this and that will probably get the plot moving in terms of him being lost between universes and running into America Chavez. But eventually, Wanda will return, maybe with her kids helping, and all collaborate to defeating whatever foe they’re facing. Then she’ll bring her boys back, because how else would they be in Young Avengers?!?!?

The twins grew up separately and with different surnames in the comics (Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd). And they have differing backgrounds and experiences too: Billy grew up Jewish, while Tommy didn't. Removing those backstories for the sake of simplicity is what fears me the most if Marvel Studios has plans to adapt the Young Avengers.
