If the movie was longer and focused on one thing like a dynamic relationship between strange and himself, with Chavez; then it would be good. But I think it was a big missed opportunity

I get the idea of not wanting to make Wanda disliked as a female character, but everything I have seen people say about Wanda is that they are very excited to make her a villain. Having women in respected roles does mean they can’t be villains, it just means they also deserve to be well written and thought out. I for one would love to see Wanda become a villain or antihero. Her character is classical tragic and that’s not a bad thing to explore.

How do we know for sure that the "evil" Dr. Strange is actually a villainous doppleganger. The trailer doesn't necessarily imply he has any sinister agenda. Just because he's got a maniacal smile, doesn't exactly mean he's an antagonist. The only justification would be the whole Sm Raimi having made a bad guy clone of Ash in the Evil Dead series. Otherwise it could just be Strange Supreme from the What If series who is more experienced and knowledgeable about the multiverse making him an invaluable ally to the main live action Dr. Strange.

Something to keep in mind. Agatha said she’s stronger than the Sorcerer Supreme. Wong is currently the Sorcerer Supreme so they wrote themselves a little loophole. We don’t actually know if she’s stronger than Dr. Strange. My money is on Wanda for sure but they left themselves the way out on purpose for sure.

I think it’s a possibility, especially if they don’t want to have a montage of Strange being Wanda’s superior in terms of magic to explain it to her, to get her to that point. That “dark” Wanda from the trailer seems far more comfortable with her powers than Wanda is at the end of WandaVision, after all.

@@shaks828 Honestly, they kinda wrote themselves into a corner with that bit, given that she IS in What If? (the Zombies episode), so there's definitely absolutely 100% more than one Wanda. Maybe her specific designation as "the Scarlet Witch" is what's unique? Sort of like in Spider-Verse (the comic not the movie) there are certain unique totems that join with different spider-people throughout the universe, most famous one being The Other. There's only one The Other in the multiverse, but it jumps from host to host -- at one point 616 Peter was The Other, then Kaine became The Other, etc. But 616 Peter and Kaine still exist even when not possessed by The Other, and they have countless variants who are not The Other. If there's an evil Wanda variant (I kinda like this idea), then she could for instance want to become the Scarlet Witch herself and replace our Wanda. It's kinda a "have your cake and eat it too" -- we get the evil Wanda who fulfills Agatha's prophecy, but OUR Wanda still says clean and can continue to appear as a hero.

Let me just remind everyone of an integral part: Multiverse of Madness was supposed to happen BEFORE no way home and was RE WRITTEN because of all the delays in production. So this means that anything can happen. Wanda may have caused the Multiverse of Madness when it was set before NWH but now it is clearly caused by Dr Strange and Peter. So now, we don't know if Wanda would still be the villain or an ally. The Rewrite caused this.

Ya I feel like Marvel in many ways has toyed with the idea that good or bad is a perspective and can be circumstancial. Age of Ultron and Civil War are a great example where people in the world literally see the Avengers as destructive super villains. It's like, ya they're heroes....for ultimately saving the world. So we may think they're good. But anyone who gets the negative impact or who has no idea what is actually going on in the grand scheme of things (aka non-super beings) can easily see their actions as bad.

It would be neat to have Wanda become an anti-hero, I'm not sure if she would be a total villian since she just wants to have her family... not really wishing harm to anyone in particular. Also, the writers do have a loophole for a battle between Wanda and Strange. You would think Wanda will win since "shes more powerful than the sorcerer supreme", but Dr. Strange isn't the sorcerer supreme anymore, Wang is. So Strange might be skilled enough to neutralize Wanda, who knows... I'm on team Strange, he's one of the heroes I really like as characters alongside Spiderman and Hawkeye :)

I would have LOVED to see Dr Strange in Wandavison, but as it was written 1000% keeping Strange out was the right decision. The finale sets up these two powerful women, one ancient, the other young and just coming into her power. This was Wanda's story. She needed to be the one to end it. Having Dr Strange come in and basically mansplain magic to these two incredibly powerful women would have just been a really bad look. Like yeah, let's let the big strong man come and calm these hysterical women down and show them how magic really works. The finale was great the way it was. Strange would have under cut her.

I think you’re forgetting a very common movie trope: if the villain says something, they’re wrong. So far, in the MCU, the people who have called Wanda a villain and tried to subdue her have been Ross, Hayward and Agatha, while those who have believed in Wanda have been Hawkeye, Cap America and Monica Rambeau. Having her become a villain now or ever is saying “Guess we misjudged those guys, they were the real heroes.”. For that reason alone I believe Wanda will never again be a villain. My guess is that she will begin helping Dr Strange, then see an opening to grab her kids out of that universe in which they were calling her from, Dr Strange will oppose and she will abandon him to persue this and that will probably get the plot moving in terms of him being lost between universes and running into America Chavez. But eventually, Wanda will return, maybe with her kids helping, and all collaborate to defeating whatever foe they’re facing. Then she’ll bring her boys back, because how else would they be in Young Avengers?!?!?

Frankly I would love a storyline with Wanda being more like a villain tbh and causing complete havoc and chaos in the multiverse to find her kids. In the MCU we barely see strong female superheroes who are understandably damaged and vulnerable. With movies like captain Marvel that make it seem like an op female hero can’t be vulnerable and make her share of mistakes, this would be a pleasant surprise and could truly redefine the MCU. I support the #metoo movement but I definitely think it would be unfair and counterproductive if a plot like this causes a lot of public outrage.

I don't support the #metoo movement itself. I'm happy that people come forward with their sexual harrasment and rape accusations, but there is a place to do that, which is the court of justice. Destroying the life of people over some rumors like 'he did this and that to me' should have never been idolized like it did with the movement. The only time I would accept this kind of behaviour is if a court would actually not listen to solid evidence. It is important to critique the pillars of democracy (as defined in the 3 pillars of democracy itself). But for me, #metoo always seemed like targeted harrasment of famouse people, which feels detrimental to the whole discussion of sexual harrasment and rape. With the media portrayals I am getting, most of the time people are actually punished for these kinds of crimes is when they are actually innocent or cannot determined whether or not these actually happened. And this is an issue. Most would not accept the quality of the witness statements for any other kind of crime. But for rape and harrasment? #IBelieveHer

The problem is that, for a long time, female characters only had two motivations to choose from: do it for a man, or do it for the kids. Men could be heroes for all sorts of reasons, but with women it always came back to "my father," "My husband," or "my children" SOMETIMES "my mom," but that also ties into "for my kids" That was a big issue people had with Natasha in AoU. This character who, before, had shared her male counterparts' motivations of doing the right thing just because it's the right thing was suddenly saddled with the traditional "I want a husband and kids" motivation of her predecessors. Yeah, Bruce wanted kids too; but he also wanted to control his powers, be accepted by society, be more of use to the team, be seen as a hero instead of a monster. Natasha was just...sad because no babies. And Wanda kinda suffers from the same issue. Her whole motivation, her whole character, is "I want my man," "I want babies," "I want to be a housewife;" so it APPEARS Marvel is trying to water that down by adding more depth and making her more than just a girl pining for the 1950s idealism of having supper on the table by the time Hubby gets home

In the real world that’s actually how many women _and_ men are despite Hollywood trying to tell you otherwise. Also, you’re very wrong about women having that “problem” in entertainment. Women in many books and movies have wanted more than just a man and children. Though, there truly is nothing weak or demeaning about a woman just wanting her husband and children. If anything, I think it’s very strong and makes sense considering it is a real reality for many women that have chosen that path which is fine and their choice. It’s sad that people think it’s a bad thing or not empowering. There’s also a lot of media of men having the same motivations. I would also argue that Natasha wasn’t sad because “no babies” but rather the fact that she no longer had a choice. That _choice_ of creating a family was stripped from her.

It would make perfect sense for Doctor Strange to appear at the end of wandavision to try to guide her in the ways of magic. From a narrative point of view i am glad they didnt and chose to focos on wandas's story, but him teaching "power" to her makes total sense. Uhh… I don’t know… The me too movement had nothing to do with anything related to house of m, directly or indirectly. Grief stricken mother who wants her family back isn’t exactly a storyline exclusive to women. We got something incredibly similar with kingpin in into the spider verse. I don’t see how it would be seen as sexist, in any light. Wanda can be the villain in multiverse of madness. Arguably, the more sexist thing is saying she can’t.

I know, both men and women (any other classified gender) can be villain or hero. It should not be based on what there biology or classification is. It should fit the narrative, story arc, actions, and history of the character. Something like wanting her children back after losing everyone she had ever loved is understandable. She has the ability to do it so she would should take that option. I support equality like them but I think they are missing the equal part. Equal means that no one is treated differently and are all treated with respect. Females should be equal to males but not be overly better because then they are just doing the problem in reverse. If Wanda was a boy they most likely wouldn’t be complaining which is something I don’t understand. She can showcase how powerful she is whatever road she takes and by being the villain she can showcase that without any limits. IDK but I think she would be amazing as a villain but even if she is not we will love her anyway.
