Originally posted in April 2012, this was the belated conclusion to Wrestlemonthia, which had been delayed because I was filming To Boldly Flee. It's also the final something else: this was the last episode to be filmed on my miniDV camcorder before I traded it for the HD camera I use today. As per usual, this is a re-edited version that tightens up the pacing and cuts down the film clips, running 1m 2s shorter than the original. I've recently upgraded my editing software, which includes the ability to upscale footage, which I have applied to this, to present the video in upscaled HD for the first time, let me know what you think of the results (which will look better on episodes filmed with the later camera). As you can guess, this ties into Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. I've always really liked this one, and I hope you do too!

That's sweet to hear, that's very common for stars. I think some of it is to do with his agents as well, who encouraged him to take more of these roles and lose muscle; I think he changed management soon after because he changed focus primarily to action, doing the odd family film on the side.

Yes, I agree so much. Imagine if people would use the "It's just for kids" excuse for food. Toddlers are dumb enough to swallow anything, that doesn't mean that you should let them, and same goes for entertainment. Kids should be taught to recognize quality early on, or else they risk growing up into the sort of troglodytes that make Adam Sandler movies turn a profit.

True, but kids can be more forgiving than adults because they don't have the experience. For example, if a movie uses a bunch of cliches that adults have seen a million times, then adults will give it a harsher criticism than kids, because kids aren't familiar with those cliches. It's still a different type of audience.

About the Tooth Fairies being kept secret thing, at least in The Fairly OddParents, you can make the excuse that they wanted to prevent adults from using their magic for evil, which happened multiple times on the show, especially with Crocker. But with this movie, what’s the point? Relatable, my ass! If you want fantasy elements in your kids movie, then go all out with it! Kids love to be entertained and they hate being bored (kind of like most adults). It’s the “how do you do, fellow kids,” meme all over again!

When I was younger, I tried to come up with a story where both Santa Claus exists, and parents still wrap presents, completely unaware of his existence. After watching this video a few years ago, I realized why no one’s ever done it before. If I saw this movie when it came out (I kept seeing commercials for it, but never saw it), not only would I be complaining about certain problems with the film, but I would’ve thought that _that_ was a saving grace.
@otaking35823 жыл бұрын
The TV show The Librarians managed to make it work by having Santa be a conduit for spreading Christmas cheer throughout the world instead of presents. Also, he was played by Bruce Campbell. It's as awesome as it sounds.
@graemesmith67213 жыл бұрын
In the comic book Oz Squad, which freely mixed fantasy with real-world elements, Santa was asked by a reporter why rich kids get more presents than poor kids. Santa replied: "Because their rich parents buy them for them. I give every child exactly one present, once in their life, when they need it most." I thought that was a very clever and artful way of handling that dilemma. Not only does it remove the problem of parents buying presents and Santa having to visit billions of houses in one night, but it opens the possibility that Santa's presents may be something other than material objects. Maybe it's giving a child the courage to stand up to a bully, or saving them from being hit by a car, or bringing their parents back to together.

@@troin3925 It was an independent comic published by Brave New Words, a company that I'm sure is long defunct. Dorothy is now 100 but remains eternally about 25 due to the wish belt she acquired in Oz, and is an expert martial artist and spy. The Scarecrow is an intelligence analyst and strategist due to his super intellect. The Tin Woodsman is an unstoppable cybernetic juggernaut ala the Terminator, and the Cowardly Lion is a shapeshifting lycanthrope. Their nemeses included Baron Munchausen, who exported Nazism to Oz; the Lilliputians, who are ruthless arms dealers, and Joan of Arc, who is now a vampire.

Rise of the Guardians did a better job of explaining that tooth fairies and other such characters need children believing in them to give them the power to do their jobs. It didn't explain where adults fit in, but I have my own idea for that. See, if adults knew these creatures were real, they would try to control them. For example, the world's governments would ban Santa Claus from entering people's houses because they don't trust him, while trying to steal and replicate his sleigh technology for military purposes. Adults are horrible. They don't deserve magic.

6:53-7:00 Not only that, but it feels like it’s a rule that in live-action (though it _is_ overdone in animation as well, *cough* Emoji Movie *cough* ), the fantasy element _has_ to be something that the world doesn’t know about, possibly in an attempt to make it “relatable!” ...UUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH! I can _definitely_ tell you that this wasn’t what I wanted to see as a kid. I had much better ideas for talking animal movies than the idiots at Hollywood kept disappointed me with as a kid, especially since they were all basically the _exact same fucking movie_ (Seriously, same soundtrack, same comedy, same effects, same cliches, same storylines, same camera work, VARIETY PLEASE!?)! The ideas that I had and have are basically over the top, fun schlock that knows it’s schlock (like Maximum Overdrive and Planet Terror but without all the sex and gore). I even recently thought of an interesting take on this for the adult demographic. The idea is a mockumentary which portrays a fictional world where animals are intelligent and capable of human speech, with the documentary showing the history of the prejudice humans had against talking animals compared to their relationships in the present day, making tons of parallels and allegories to racism and homophobia. Since it would also have fake interviews, it has an excuse for the animals to stay completely still while their mouths are CGI-ied. Sorry for sounding bitter, I’m very passionate about this. I hate it when people use the “it’s for kids,” excuse as a justification for bad writing, as if every kid on the entire planet is homogenous.
@blondbraid79867 жыл бұрын

Vanessa could visit the Fairy World with Colossus, NegaSonic and Yukio; exploring the magic place while Wade is training. It could be a fun scene! 12:31-12:47 Naturally, this doesn’t go anywhere. Because why would we want an interesting modern world where everyone knows these beings exist, which I’m sure kids _want_ to see!?

Lol. You knock out The Rock's teeth and he'll proceed to smack your whole jaw out. With half his pinky. Using minimal force.

Matthew, this was clearly written by the same numbnuts who wrote son of the mask. This whole film is secretly horrifying.

So this is what you’d get if you fuse The Santa Clause with Sailor Moon. I think I made the right call skipping this movie at the age of 10.

That's right, but Mat, Lewis, Phelous and Doug seem to think they need to explain their jokes or else we won't get them.

Um actually there is no wormhole in the intro to doctor who it’s the time vortex if you want to compare that wormhole to a famous wormhole I’d recommend the bajoran wormhole from Star Trek DS9

14:03-14:07 Actually, even some kids movies don’t do that. Also, could someone tell the music to shut the fuck up! This is a huge pet peeve of mine. Even as a kid, my feelings towards that is basically the audio equivalent of Doug’s opinion about the wide-angle lens craze.
