Originally posted in March 2014, this is a re-edited version that loses 1m 27s of running time. As per usual, cuts have been made to the film clips, but also to reduce the amount of dragging syllables; this was coming off the "angry period", where I had mostly returned to normal but was still over-emphasizing in spots, so I've tried to correct that as best as I can. While this episode was originally in HD, I've also re-encoded the DVD source anamorphically for better quality and upscaled that too, and I used my original edit file for this new version. Funnily enough, no home video release of the film is uncut: the international theatrical release (such as the UK) included the lines cut for a PG-13, and is used for international TV showings, but Fox used the cut US master for all territories - somewhat ironic given the Blu has an unrated extended cut! As you can probably guess, this is to link with A Wrinkle in Time, hope you enjoy!

Okay, so this script/idea first existed around 1997/1998. That explains a lot. The initial idea/script, I'd presume, was "In the Company of Men, Looney Tunes Edition." Goes through a bunch of drafts over the decade and a half, adding terrible ideas and scenes, removing context for ideas that were, initially at least, decent, before eventually becoming a soulless action rom-com starring spies, but with the In the Company of Men premise still there. Also: That's an, I have to assume gas powered, movable light. I assume because most of the building on this is during the night hours.

How awful that these actors were roped into a rom-com just because studios noticed women think Tom Hardy and Chris Pine are attractive. I love Tom in most anything (not only is he just sooo nice to look at but his acting is great) but THIS was just another underwhelming attempt to get female audiences into the theater. It's insulting. Why always the predictable and formulaic rom-com tropes? We can all appreciate well written films with interesting and refreshing plots. The hotties are just cherry on top.

In that case, these spies make total sense. Them focusing on sleeping with so many young, attractive women however, still does not...

I personally would choose an action movie over a lame romance movie. They're all the same and so boring. If I'm going to pay to see a movie in theaters I want to see shit blowing up.

Mcg should stick to music videos than films. Rob Zombie is a better director than he is!

Good lord just write a good film and cast black actors without writing that terrible fake urban slang they like to think all black people use.

This is my favourite movie. Why would you do such a thing? It's all in good fun, and it has everything required of a good movie: Sex, romance, action, comedy and Reece Witherspoon. A little something for everyone as a matter of fact.

I don’t want to take away your enjoyment of the film, but I personally found the movie to be an unfunny, sexist, tonally inconsistent, tediously boring, obnoxious waste of talented actors, misusing CIA equipment for stalking and invading privacy is portrayed as “romantic”, as opposed to y’know, fucking disturbing. Besides, if you genuinely liked the film, what did you think of the characters and story, outside of vague stock phrases like comedy, and romance?

@@thesapphireone To be fair, I wrote that comment a month ago. My taste in movies has changed a lot since then, and I don't think this particular one is especially great anymore!
