I don't think it's so bad. It's all a matter of perspective. For an infant, simple sensations like hunger or mild discomfort are the worst things they've ever dealt with, enough to make them scream and cry, but as you get older, you find out they're not bad at all. Things that feel scary in grade school grow typical and tolerable over the years. Humans--and ghost mice, apparently--are remarkably resilient creatures. Our adaptability is a fundamental part of what makes us who we are. The good and the bad both have important roles to play.

It seems Tumble is extremely socially anxious. They live alone and need excuses to talk to people. I assume that's the reason why they just wander around and (I assume) they pretend to be "late", because they don't like talking to people.

Ava totally heard that ghost. I wouldn't be surprised if she can just also see ghosts (her only reaction to learning Lark can do it was "interesting") but it could also be the cave itself making ghosts more present. There must be a reason ghosts go there so much. Lore aside I just feel bad for this mouse. The "almost made it home" line was unironically really sad.

Okay, so I have a crazy crackpot theory involving Zoot. We all know how much she's obsessing over Darius' hoarded skulls, and everyone here thinks she's turning. But most of the residents in the park have some form of obsession if you think about it. Gloves obsessing over his signature attire (even trying to conjure gloves in the afterlife to varying degrees of success), Chalice with poo-poo stuff (and the riches, but mostly the poo-poo stuff), the bears identifying each other by the object they hold (to the point that they literally lose their identity without one), Crush with Gloves'... well, gloves, and yes, Darius's skull collection. Obsession doesn't seem to be the symptoms of someone turning. In fact, it seems to be just part of their identity. But I have an alternate theory regarding Zoot's obsession. Now, consider this: Zoot's wife and her lunch club have been spreading the word about Darius' skulls. It seems weird that Zoot, the recently-annointed Queen of the Birds, would be going out of her way to let everyone know about it. But you know what's even weirder? Zoot's wife has been mentioned twice so far, and yet we haven't seen her. She's more than likely a bird though, since Zoot doesn't strike me as the type to marry a non-bird. Now here's where it gets spooky. We know Darius was killed by a bird with large talons, but there was never any confirmation that Crush did the deed. But you know who else could have done it? Another bird we haven't seen yet - Zoot's wife. As a cormorant, Zoot doesn't have the tools for the job (cormorant feet are webbed at the expense of their talons), but you know who would? Zoot's wife. And Darius' hoard seems to be growing exponentially post-mortem. Where would Darius have gotten all those skulls in the first place? Simple: His wife, who's now Zoot's wife, which came with the status of queen-hood. But I hear you asking, "Wasn't Zoot Darius' wife?" Nope, Zoot was annointed Queen of the Birds _after_ his death, and Darius would have needed someone to satisfy his skull-lust in life. And who better to do so than his wife, the next biggest bird in the park? And now Zoot is using Darius' ex-wife to continue killing other residents for their skulls, or having her venture outside the park to dig through "lots of blood [and] lots of meat." Zoot isn't just obsessing over Darius' skull hoard, _she's using it to besmirch her predecessor's name for her own benefit._ *UPDATE:* ...Okay, so this theory was completely and utterly off, but I'm just gonna leave it here for posterity. Thanks for braving this inane wall of text, I guess.

OK. I think the shadowstone is Nil's ship. I think he crash landed and died while the others (mentioned by punches) landed safely. I think Nils race came to conquer Earth using some kind of infection to deal with the local population. The ships have a field around them to protect them while the infection plays out, but Nil's ship is damaged and the safety field is starting to fail. That's why some animals are starting to turn and how Crush made it back in briefly.

My theories so far: -The Shadowstone is a crashed UFO/ portal to another dimension. (Maybe the world outside the park ended because of an invasion) -Niel is the ghost of whatever was using the Shadowstone, probably was murdered. -Something in the Shadowstone gives it's residents consciousness, but now it's fading, resulting in their murderous tendencies. -Animals can't pass the border because they can feel something is wrong with the park. -Crush couldn't have killed Binky, we saw her outside the border while they discovered Binky's body. So maybe she is not trying to kill the residents but warn them of something. -That ghost rat maybe was one of Darius' victims?

It's so out of left field. *Lark:* • What happened to Lark's back legs? • Why is Lark so "lucky"? *Minor Characters:* • Had Darius been outside the Park collecting skulls? Surely, they didn't all come from within the Shadowstone's border. ◦ More skulls appeared around the base of the Shadowstone. Does this have anything to do with Darius' ghost? How did they get there if they weren't there before? • Why has Zoot's wife been getting more nosy? • What is the crack in the Shadowstone? ◦ Why is it counting up? ▪ Why is it count increasing sooner each time it goes up? ◦ What was it saying at the start and end? It sounds like a voice trying to speak. *Pecan:* • how did pecan get so ripped like damn gurl you could grind meat on them abs

[THEORIES AND INTERPRETATIONS] • Murder or violence may have some role in how animals turn. A point of no return, of sorts, where mere sanity slippage transcends into the far-gone. ◦ Possible metaphor for lack of acceptance of differences? Crush attacked because she couldn't understand Gloves. • The 5 to 10 minute window of memory loss for the dead may simply be a trauma response. • Crush may have been taking Lark to the source of the madness. ◦ The source may need him for something, possibly for his ability to commune with ghosts. ▪ This, of course, means they need him alive, which is why the far-gone haven't killed him yet when at least Crush easily could have. This accounts for his "luck". • Ava and Nil seem to be trying to tell Lark to stop focusing on those dying and being attacked (no end to the clowns or the river, swatting at flies with an unburied body). • Ava's radio may help her avoid turning (perhaps in a similar manner to in Stranger Things). ◦ This may be why she's vastly more combative than anyone else in the show so far, to the point of being the first character to get an actual reaction out of Lark. She's just on the edge of turning, and the radio is all that's keeping her from it. This could even relate to her saying she's never been outside of the cave, as she genuinely may have forgotten due to the loss of time and confusion caused by being close to turning. ▪ Doubly so if she's being combative intentionally. She may be trying to keep everyone at arms' length emotionally so she doesn't get attached to anyone she knows she will eventually lose, whether she turns or they do. [PREDICTIONS] • The far-gone will gather around the border as the Shadowstone begins to collapse, and eventually will start to cross. ◦ As of EP3, this is already beginning to happen, though I did not expect a crossing so soon. • Zoot will turn soon. She's been getting oddly obsessive over the skull thing, and obsession over something not making sense seems to be another sign of turning. • Ava won't turn (at least not for a while) but I'm not sure why not. ◦ Might have to do with whatever she's building in the caves? ◦ Or of course, the boombox. Notes: - Animals that have become mindless killers are referred to with terms such as "far-gone" and "turned", as far-gone is the closest thing to an official term we have so far to my knowledge, while turned is easy to understand. May amend this to one or the other, feel free to leave input on that.

I don't know if anyone is talking about it, but how are we certain the skulls "around the base of the shadowstone" aren't being manifested by the stone itself? That would certainly qualify as "anything strange, lately." I also think there's not enough focus on Nil's assertion that this is part of a battle between a malicious deity and the soul of the planet. Are the stones a weapon? A prison? A projection of the spirit of the planet, sent out to protect whatever life it can? Also going to take a wild guess- I think that mediums like Lark (and perhaps Ava) can interfere with the shadowstone through a combination of spiritual sensitivity and possession of a physical body. The turned are unable to kill mediums, for some reason, and so they make it their goal to drag them away from the stone, in the hopes that they will perish or get lost far from home. Also, Crush being specifically obsessed with this park is interesting. The rabbits seemed content to migrate away quickly, and haven't made another appearance, but Crush has stuck around.
